They called saying they were Chase Bank.

Said to call this number to speak to Chase immediately. I called the regular number for Chase and they said they made no such call. Do not call that number! They are scammers trying to get your account information.

This is Chase's Fraud Number. If you called it (vs them calling you) you are good.

I don't understand why those of you who are saying this is a spammer are doing so unless you want to waste our time. Because of you, I called the number on the card instead and was told by Chase that the number was valid for the fraud department. 877-691-8086 is a valid number for the chase fraud department.

This is not a spammer - I called Chase with the number on back of the debit card and asked the agent about this number - 877-691-8086 - they confirmed its the Chase fraud dept. People saying this is spam are wrong - you can easily verify this by calling the Chase customer service number directly and asking about this one.

I got a very sketchy letter in the mail saying my account is blocked and they will be closing it soon if I do not provide additional information. The letter itself was obviously not from Chase Bank. It was very obvious right away it was a scam. Please be smart and don't fall for it.

I received a notice in the mail with what appeared to be a check for a closed account. This phone number was the call back number. I called the main chase branch as I havent had an account in over 10 years. It was not from them. SCAM DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION!!

I spent 20 minutes waiting just to get on the line with some Indian Mother***ker named "Vince" (definitely the cuck kind not the Chad kind of Indian) after them asking increasingly ****** questions I realized it was fake and got the ***k out! Stay away from these losers!

They wanted to verify activity on my account, but there's no problematic activity on my account. This was left in a voicemail, I did not answer them.

This number is not a spammer. This number does actually belong to Chase Bank. I was skeptical about the number at first, but the main customer service line verified this number does belong to them.

Scanner using Chase phone number by spoofing identification of actual bank number. Scammers want your card code number. Legit bank will not ask for code number. Never give your code number to anyone. Always hang up and call number in back of card yourself.

NOT A SCAM! This is a legit Chase Bank number for account problems. I received letters from Chase with this number included. I called, and though it sounded very much legit, I was skeptical. So I hung up and called the main Chase number to asked them if this 877-691-8086 number was theirs. They confirmed that it was.

This is a total scam. They say they are calling from Chase. Chase doesn’t call if there is the appearance of fraud on an account. Don’t fall for it. It is quite professional but an absolute scam.

Call came from 800-839-7416 robot said to call 877-691-8086 to verify possible fraudulent activity on Chase account. Did not call back, this was the second call from the 800 number in an hour. Called number on the back of my card and the bank verified there was no suspicious activity on the account and it was likely a scammer trying to get personal information.

I just hung up on the person i waited 15 minutes to finally speak to after reading this and fearing i was talking to a scammer, then called the Chase number on my card, transferred from one person to another and finally to the third, but before being transferred to the third, was given this number. Oy.

Chase was unable to confirm this was a good number. What the scammer said didn't match Chase processes.

I called the Chase number on my statement instead of calling back. They were indeed checking on a legitimate pay by phone check I had authorized. Glad they are keeping tabs as I recently had one of my credit cards used fraudulently.

I think this is fraud!I'm sorry, but I don't believe anyone on here who is saying that this is a valid Chase number, I think you are all part of the scam.  Just like the person who posted on June 30, I got messages saying a check was going to be returned.  They wanted me to give them the last 8 digits of my atm card and then to enter my PIN.  I didn't do it and called the main Chase number, and they said there was no hold on any check from my account, no reason for anyone to be calling me.Be cautious who you believe.

They called from 877 691-8086 twice in a row and left messages advising me to call back before 4:45pm (one hour from now) at the risk of a check I wrote being returned. When I called a woman said she was going to ask me questions to verify my identity and that they would come from public information and would be multiple choice (uhh what?) then proceeded to ask "first I need the last 6 digits of your social security number"Umm, no. I hung upI called the number on the back of my card and the lady there said she saw no holds or problems with my transactions.We'll see what happens but regardless of whether it's a valid fraud protection line I don't approve of questions like that over the phone.Just sayin

I got a msg. asking me to call 877.691.8086 and they said it was Chase Loss Prevention. After I did a reverse lookup on the number and read some posts about it, I called the real Chase number (800-935-9935); the call did indeed come from Chase, and I was forwarded to Loss Prevention. They did not ask me for any personal info (no acct. numbers, pin, etc.), and instead verified who I was via 2 questions that had nothing to do w/ banking or money. Since they had done the same thing when I opened my acct. and I knew I was talking to the actual Chase, I went ahead and gave them the correct answers.They only wanted to verify that I had indeed written a specific check; they said the signature didn't exactly match what they had on file, and given the amount...  They supplied all the info, all I had to do was verify (yes or no) that I had written the check.  I can't blame anyone for being cautious--I sure am--but this is a real Chase number. If you get such a message and are concerned about phishing, simply call the Chase Customer Svc. line or--as others here have done--call the number on the back of your card. Better safe than sorry.

Not a fraud.  I returned a voicemail message to this number, gave them my account number...but I found this website saying it was fraud and I then refused to give them my ATM card and PIN.  I asked them to give me just a breadcrumb of information to verify that they actually know something about me, anything, but they refused.  I ended the call, called the number on the back of my ATM card, selected the option for account fraud, they verified that the this number was indeed a valid Chase number and they transferred me.  It's Chase; it's valid.

This is a valid Chase number and not fraudulent.  I too got a message to call and the first thing she asked for was my account number.  I told her NO and said that I would call the main Chase number and asked to be transferred.  I asked for her Department name "Fraud Prevention".Called main Chase number 800-935-9935 and they transferred me to "Risk Operations/Fraud Prevention" after verifying that 877-691-8086 was indeed a valid Chase phone number.By the way, another Chase rep told me that they ONLY e-mail people and never call -- that was a lie, they do call.  I was asked for my debit card number and then instructed to enter my PIN myself, followed by the # sign.

It definitly is a fraud. My fiance and I just opened an account at Chase together. We both got phone calls regarding a check we wrote and that we needed to give this lady all such information so the check wouldn't be returned. We have written 1 check. And that was cashed and cleared no problem a couple weeks ago. We called our banker, she said it was a fraud. We are going to the bank today to change our account numbers. The phone call came from Houston-- (713) 262-0000 but she said on my voicemail to call back to 877-691-8086. Had I talked to her, I would have asked for all of her personal information, social security number, address, account numbers, so that I could strip her of her hard earned funds. Unbelievable....
