I got a msg. asking me to call 877.691.8086 and they said it was Chase Loss Prevention. After I did a reverse lookup on the number and read some posts about it, I called the real Chase number (800-935-9935); the call did indeed come from Chase, and I was forwarded to Loss Prevention. They did not ask me for any personal info (no acct. numbers, pin, etc.), and instead verified who I was via 2 questions that had nothing to do w/ banking or money. Since they had done the same thing when I opened my acct. and I knew I was talking to the actual Chase, I went ahead and gave them the correct answers.They only wanted to verify that I had indeed written a specific check; they said the signature didn't exactly match what they had on file, and given the amount... They supplied all the info, all I had to do was verify (yes or no) that I had written the check. I can't blame anyone for being cautious--I sure am--but this is a real Chase number. If you get such a message and are concerned about phishing, simply call the Chase Customer Svc. line or--as others here have done--call the number on the back of your card. Better safe than sorry.

It definitly is a fraud. My fiance and I just opened an account at Chase together. We both got phone calls regarding a check we wrote and that we needed to give this lady all such information so the check wouldn't be returned. We have written 1 check. And that was cashed and cleared no problem a couple weeks ago. We called our banker, she said it was a fraud. We are going to the bank today to c****e our account numbers. The phone call came from Houston-- (713) 262-0000 but she said on my voicemail to call back to 877-691-8086. Had I talked to her, I would have asked for all of her personal information, social security number, address, account numbers, so that I could ***** her of her hard earned funds. Unbelievable....

I told her NO and said that I would call the main Chase number and asked to be transferred. I asked for her Department name "Fraud Prevention".Called main Chase number 800-935-9935 and they transferred me to "Risk Operations/Fraud Prevention" after verifying that 877-691-8086 was indeed a valid Chase phone number.By the way, another Chase rep told me that they ONLY e-mail people and never call -- that was a lie, they do call. I was asked for my debit card number and then instructed to enter my PIN myself, followed by the # sign.

Just like the person who posted on June 30, I got messages saying a check was going to be returned. They wanted me to give them the last 8 digits of my atm card and then to enter my PIN. I didn't do it and called the main Chase number, and they said there was no hold on any check from my account, no reason for anyone to be calling me.Be cautious who you believe.

Not a fraud. I returned a voicemail message to this number, gave them my account number...but I found this website saying it was fraud and I then refused to give them my ATM card and PIN. I asked them to give me just a breadcrumb of information to verify that they actually know so****ing about me, anything, but they refused. I ended the call, called the number on the back of my ATM card, selected the option for account fraud, they verified that the this number was indeed a valid Chase number and they transferred me. It's Chase; it's valid.
