They have called me several times and now I just play along with their little game. At first they kept asking for Todd and after multiple times of trying to explain that they had a wrong number I finally said "yes this is Todd". Once they informed me (Todd) that I owed them money I told them that they had a wrong number and that this cell number they were calling looking for Todd was owned by me....they still call about once a week. They are indeed slime and give them no personal information. Being nice to them will get you no where!

Please don't judge me I work for a collection agency. Now the collection agency I work for does not buy old debts we collect debts for creditors and we get a percentage of what we collect. I was listed for collection with ARC myself for so****ing ****** when I was young but I never admitted this to the collection agent. I denied the debt from the beggining and also stated it was not mine. Now the limitation has passed and they can't do anything to me but I did call them and told them to stop calling this number or I will charge them with harrassment. I gave them the number they are calling and they keep saying I owe money so I told them take it to court but stop calling me. They haven't done a thing! Nor can they. Once you told them they have the wrong number the calls have to stop or you can report them. There is no if and buts about it! When people call me and say I have the wrong number if they can't give me the name of the person I asked for, then I ask the number I called and I then remove it from our files. It's illegal to keep calling someone once they have told you it's a wrong number. They can have their license removed and they will no longer be able to operate.Hope this helps...

PS Scary Monster, why dont you do so****ing that you are good at....like pulling train !!!
(877) 582-4840
scary Monster, you say people must file to get protection from creditors and THEIR collection agencies. This is false. The collection agencies in most cases do not act for creditors. They buy old, past-statute-of-limitation debts for next to nothing. The original creditor gets NOTHING !! So when they call you and tell you that you owe the bank 10K, tell they are full of BS! You dont owe the bank anything anymore. They bought a bad****et (for basically a few cents) , and they dont deserve a dime. So, Scary Monster you are full of ****. But declaring bankruptcy does give protection from your two-bit efforts to shake down people. It has nothing to do with creditors. You zombie ***s !!!

Don't listen to thing Scary Monster has said. He/she/it is one of those bullies that works for a collecton agency and loves the idea of harassing people. It is the only way these people can feel good about themselves by coming off as tough behind a telephone, bet in r/l they are cowards.

Do not do a thing the poster above is saying (scary monster). He obviously works for a collection agency and is one of those Collection agency s***bag employees who rationalises being a degenerate by demonising people so he can get through the day without thinking what a s***bag he/she is.Never give them personal information, that is how they make their money. They will ask you first to try to get as much personal information out of you as possible. Then they will resort to bully tactics. The people and visa vi this number is just to try to make people miserable. If they don't get what they want they will try to make you life miserable (by calling and bullying)Don't let them do it. Call your ombudsmen, the better business bureau and the consumer protection government agency in your province. Tell them you are getting unsolicited calls from this number (account recovery corporation), and that you do not wish to receive calls from them. They will get a hold of the company on your behalf, and straighten things out. Then you don't have to deal with their lies, cheating and all together low life tactics. The main thing is don't call this number back, and never give them any personal information, that's what makes them money, because they sell it to other agencies and 3rd parties. The agents on the phone actually only make money by how much info they get from you, and or money.

This caller is a collection agency. They are not a scam, they are the exact opposite of a scam. They are calling you because YOU are a scammer. They are licensed by the government and were hired by a bank or company that you owe money to as the second-last resort to recover the money you owe. Their final resort is a lawsuit and it's usually up to the collection agent and his manager to decide that that's what it's going to take to make you pay your debt. There's lots of deadbeat s*** so sometimes agencies use ma****es to call. It's improbable they are calling you in error, but if you know they are you should call back during business hours, be polite, identify yourself and they are legally bound to leave you alone. You've nothing to fear by giving personal information to a collection agency to get out of their crosshairs. Privacy is a vital and legal priority to agents. If you truly aren't the debtor, it's your duty to direct the agency away from you and put them back on the right trail. I know it's slightly inconvenient to honorable people like me, but you can feel good that you did the right thing. If they are not calling you in error, you should call back, be polite and work out a solution to your debt problems. If you ignore them, at best your credit and mortgage will be ruined, and you could even end up in court for the money you owe. I know people who lost their nice 4% mortgage because they *****ed up with 1 credit card and it got sold to high risk mortgagers at 9-14%. Unreliable people with bad credit are up the entire mortgage industry and the whole economy is suffering as a result. If you have bad debt on your credit report you can't get loans, credit cards, auto financing, mortgages or even an apartment. Sometimes not even a job since debtors aren't bondable. Bad credit can ruin your life.If you've already ruined your life and have a good excuse for being in debt you must file for bankruptcy to get legal protection from your creditors and their collection agencies. If you haven't actually ruined your life and are just dumb or *****ing up, making friends with your debt collector is your #1 priority before you actually do [removed:lang] up your life.I hope this post is helpful and informative.

I have been getting several calls a day now from this same number (1-877-582-4840) and its getting **** annoying. I called my phone provider to as to have call privacy added to my phone and it wasnt available to me. The gal then said to just stop answering the calls and eventually they should stop. (Great..And how long will this take?)They used to call on the weekends only but have no s****ed to call during the week. My husband works nights and sleeps during the day, so the calls are becoming a little too much (to say the least) Today I tried to call them back. Actually got ahold of a real PERSON on the other end of the phone. Told him I kept getting calls quoting some reference number and that I wanted my phone number removed from their list immediately. He asked for my phone number (probably a dumb Idea to give it to him, but at this point, I'll try anything) said he would remove me, and then he disconnected the call. Very strange. He never even asked who I was, or if the reference number pertained to me in any way (which it doesnt, but still, he's not even doing his job if he didnt ask who I was, right? Hopefully the calls will stop now. Would anyone be willing to share the reference number they are given? Im just curious to see if its the same, or a different reference # they give when making all these calls.~Martini
