Got a call today.  Lindsy was informing me in a most frantic voice that she could not stress the dire consequences if I did not call her by 5 am today.  She did not say what it was about. . .Soooo, being one who lacks in c***alrous behavior, I deleted the message and did some research.  Thank you for posting your experiences.  Now, I'm pretty sure that if her home were on fire, I'd roast marshmallows with the flames.  Either someone hired a tweeker as a telemarketer, or they're running scams.

File a complaint via the FTC online at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/You can submit as much or as little info as you want but if enough people file a complaint with at least the company name, CRA, and the phone number or numbers, then hopefully the FTC will get involved.Whether it is legit or a scam is irrelevant because their tactics violate the Fair Credit Act.

Very cool website here! I got a call from 866-946-1358 whom left a msg that it was "pretty important that you give us a call". No reference #, No company name, No information regarding the nature of the call... just the "name" of the girl leaving the msg. After reading these posts, I found another # above which matches one whom called for MY MOTHER who lives 35 miles away and has her own, listed phone#!!! The number was 843-278-0375.I never conduct business from my porch nor do I ever do business with someone calling me.

Received a call today about CRA getting the IRS involved with form 1099-C for a credit card i had back in 2000.  They called from number 202-558-7442 and asked if my name was so and so and whether my address was so and so.  They then wanted my email address, which I did not give, and my bank routing number and account number, which I did not give.  The girl I spoke with was Angie and she said that I had until 1:00 pm or she would file papers with the IRS.  The call back number she gave was 866-947-5169.  1:00 will come and pass!!

My ***her received a call from 866-946-1358.  They told him that I, or my attorney, should call ASAP.  He forwarded this number, a case number and the name Austin Kutchen to me.  I called and Mr. Kutchen (could this be Ashton Kutcher's other job) was not available, but another woman was happy to help me. She told me that I owed $2800 to a Discover Card account I had in the 1990s. I had this account with my ex-wife, so I am not certain if this was true or not. The key was that they were going to submit a Form 1099-C to the IRS indicating that this debt was not paid and that the account is now considered income and I would have to pay taxes on it.  But, IF I ACT NOW, I can pay this off for only $500.  I asked them to send me this in writing, but of course they wouldn't.  I had to give them my bank information now to get this paid.  I DON'T THINK SO!  I told them I would look into this and call back.  Just to be sure, I called my tax professional to find out how likely this was.  He told me that this Form 1099-C is real and similar to what they were describing, but not exactly.  But that this was certainly a scam.

Crooks !!! they called me looking for my niece. Left msg saying she needed to call by a certain time and it was critical.I told my niece about it and she told her husband who has some underworld connections. He knows all about them and may take action. So maybe they wont be around to bother people. Literally wont be around.

These guys are such creeps. They have called many relatives of mine. Made idle threats to have me arrested for some bogus debt. I am not a citizen of the US and will be returning to my native South Africa in a few days. My phone will be shut off. So I have made it my full time job to call and harrass them!!! I will try to tie up their lines so they cant bother innocent folks. HA HA BYE BYE ****AS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes i received this call today the id was private so i screened it. and the man knew my name and refrenced some file no and that i need to call back to 866-946-1358 in a demanding way, like or else. first of all my number is unlisted and second how did he get my name. I dont have any debts i dont know about. Its a scam apperently and the number needs to be blocked some how. I called the number back just to be an a**. and it went to a voice stating waiting to be conected with a representaive. Well i dont talk to ma****es and i dont wait to be talked to. Its a fishing scam. So block the number if at all possable or answer it when they call and basically be a **** and they wont call back. I like calls like this so i can get my daily frustrations out on some a** thats about all ther good for its my phone and if you call me it better be legit or prepare to have a reaming. SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!!

Same thing-  got a call from this number which we screened & did not answer since it was listed as unknown....Then next thing I know my ***her calls to say someone called him looking for my sister-in-law who had provided him as a reference..now my sister-in-law does not even know my dad's name, much less his phone number..when I searched online & found this to be a fraudulent company/number I advised my ***her -It sounds like they are fishing for personal information - DO NOT GIVE IT

So, I recieved a phone call from this fabulous company that identified themselves as CRA. They were looking for a ex brother in law of 10 years. I refused to tell me anything and got ridiculously rude and hateful on the phone with me and ended up ****ing up on me. I called back and asked for a manager. I supposively was talking to a "general manager". He did basically the same thing EXCPET he s****ed calling me a "little girl". He proceeded to YELL at me and call me a little girl 3 times. All they would tell me that my name and number was a contact number for my ex brother in law. Ok for one he doesn't even know my married last name and has NEVER called me. These people were unbelieveable. SOOOOOO rude and uncalled for mean. DO NOT RETURN CALLS TO THIS NUMBER, unless you are looking to be talked to in this way. They can not possibly work for a real company that has any type of ethics at all. The humber on my caller ID was 1-310-492-5236 and the number they asked me to call back to was 1-866-946-1358.

my brother calls me this evening asking if i was in trouble.  i tell him no everything is fine, so then he says, take a listen to this and he plays back a message from his answering ma****e.  the message is COMPLETELY obnoxious, the caller says its "important" and call now, and leaves a file # too.  its crazy that they even found my brothers home number and asked for me by name.  keep an eye out, and don't give up your personal info.  they need to prove who you are, not vice versa.

this company is scamming like crazy--trying to get personal info or, better, a check. apparently, they use the internet and maybe local newspapers to get enough infomation about you so that they SEEM to be legit--but it's a rip offfor sure. they called my former wife, asking for my current wife [there's NO connection between the two other than me] and threatening dire things. they try to bully, but it is illegal for a debt collection company to make more than one phone call a day [they've called up to 6 times]; they cannot report a debt as unreported income to the IRS; and they CANNOT FORCE YOU TO DISCLOSE INFORMATION, SO DON'T. don't even verify any information that they already have is true. if they say, "we have your address as..." even if it's right, say it's wrong.

My Brotherinlaw received a call from these people asking for my husband they do not have the know how to even call the right phone number. We have reported these people to local officers they have harassed us for a year or to now. they are not who they say they are. they will not even leave their names on their messeages and will treaten to put u in jail their is no such thing. they can not have you arrested for oweing money.

Received a call for my husband on my cell phone regarding a court case a***nst my husband. Male caller was terribly arrogant and borderline rude which I told him and ***g up on him. He called right back and left a message. Caller said that his name is Austin Kutchen (might be spelled slightly different)and that he is calling regarding a court case a***nst my husband, of which he seems to be unaware of. He left a file # and phone # (866) 946-1358 for my husband to call immediately.If they were able to find my cell number, they should have been able to also find my husbands and call him in person.

I too have received several msgs at my home from this number and 866-298-1590, for a relative and they leave her [divorced] last name which she has not had for over 10 years. The first calls were from a "Mrs. Campbell" and she was very surly and rude in her manner and left a case number; the most recent is from this 866-946-1358 and a "Samantha" who had the Same voice as "Mrs. Campbell" but a nicer demeanor and said she needs to obtain a statement from my relative.  I have not and will not call either number back - information on people can be bought online for about 5 bucks, so why call me?

I kept getting messages on my answering ma****e from a Lindsey stating that it is very important that I call them back by a certain time.

Casey keeps on calling me from 2025587442.  She also keeps calling my parent's house.  She leaves msgs telling me to call her back on 866-946-1358.  I did call back & spoke w/ a gentleman who said that they were going to file forms with the IRS.  He asked me to verify my SSN- which I did not.  He wouldn't give me information as to what this was regarding.  I suggested that the IRS or whatever company he worked for to mail me the do***ents as they are past the point of harassing me.  I asked what company I was calling- he said CRA.  I can find nothing for this company or either of the numbers online.  I also checked my credit report & have nothing outstanding.

I received a phone call from 1-866 946 1358 saying that I have to send a statement today.  I am not sure what it is about so I am trying to see if anyone knows what business this number belongs to.

Returned their call after they left messages on my phone and my mother in law's phone. I thought it was odd that they asked for me by my maiden name (I've been married for over three years)yet called my mother in law's home. I never lived with her, had mail sent to her home, or used her as a reference or contact under my maiden name. The man that answered my call asked for a reference number, which the caller, a Miss Harris, did not leave in either message. He then asked for the phone number they called, and I provided mine. He asked if my name was **** *****, and I told him that yes, that had been my maiden name. He did not ask for my married name, and I did not offer it. He said that he was with a collection company that was now the owner of a credit card debt that I owed to a Bank of Marin. I ***uely recognize that name -- if I owe them money, the debt has to be at least 8-10 years old. I stated that I would need to see so****ing in writing before doing anything about it. He said that a letter was sent to me and gave a PO box address that I don't recognize (could have been one of mine, though, I've had a few.) He said that if I did not respond to that letter, they would report the debt (which he said was a little over $1100, with interest and fees) to the IRS as unreported income, and that I would have to pay fees and penalties on that amount to them. I stated a***n that I would have to see in writing what he was talking about. He grew audibly angry/frustrated and informed me that this had been on my credit report for a long time, and that I should have seen and cleared it up by now anyway, that he was "trying to help clear this up," and that the "gentleman in the background" (I****ume he meant the background noise from my kids and the TV) were not going to help me clear this up. He reiterated that I would have to pay the IRS "heavy fees and penalties," then stated that he could not help me as he could not hear me (he hadn't paused long enough for me to say anything and was speaking in a very angry tone of voice) and that if PO Box ##### was not my address, he could not help me. He then ***g up. He never said his name or the name of the company. I didn't see the phone number they called from, as my cell phone screen is *****ed, but the number they left for me to call back was 866-946-1358. After speaking with him, I went online and pulled my credit report from all three agencies. There is no credit card debt listed for Bank of Marin, or listed as being held by them. Nor is there any credit card debt even approa****g $1100.
