This phone number has been reported for claiming an urgent matter regarding the recipient's Social Security Administration (SSA) account. The caller was difficult to understand, with speech described as sounding 'underwater,' and kept mentioning an appointment. Upon contacting the National Social Security Administration, the recipient confirmed it was likely a scam, as legitimate communications from the SSA are usually via mail, not phone calls asking for personal information such as a date of birth. It is advisable to be cautious and verify the caller's identity if you receive a call from this number.

I called the National Social Security Administration. They said if I were to receive a call it would be from my local Social Security office. That this must be a scam call. In over 8 years I’ve NEVER received a call from Social Security. They ALWAYS send everything in the mail. I do believe this is a scam call. SS knows your DOB they certainly don’t need to call & ask you for that information.

Yesterday, I applied for Social Security on-line. This morning this person claimed to be with Social Security and wanted to ask for more details. I explained that I was not comfortable with the process considering how the NSA monitors our calls. He said that he wanted me to feel comfortable and would send an email to confirm that he was from Social Security. That way I could call or email back. I told him that NSA also has the ability to send fake emailed in order to gather and file all our information to use as needed. His solution was to send my report to the local Social Security office in the area and I'll go there to complete the process. After hanging up, I plugged in this number only to realize that I've looked this number up before. How I know this is it was still in my web history. On my caller ID it said, "US Government".

Earlier this week (5 days ago) after seeing a commercial on TV, I visited the website of a company that markets a product for Identity Theft Prevention/Protection, LifeLock.com. Since then I've received calls from two different numbers, both of which have appeared on this list.Ironically, I have a block on all my phone lines and I haven't been bothered by telemarketers in years, until now. Coincidence? I think not! (My best guess would be Spyware at work here.)Note: The area code is for the northern part Alabama
