this is a collection agency. they are looking for someone that we never heard of.

Here's so****ing we could do when they're trying to find somebody else. If they leave a message to call them back, there's plenty of time to find an invalid phone number, one that doesn't belong to anybody. Give them that.

In my case they asked for my daughter. I refused to give them any information about her, but I wish I had thought a little faster. I would have looked up the number for the Federal Trade Commission and said that was her number. www.usa.gov/directory/federal/index.shtml

One of the previous responders recommended sending a Cease Communication demand by registered mail. I wouldn't advise that. You don't want to give them any information about you that they don't already have, like your location. Even if you omit a return address on the envelope, the city and state will be on the postmark.

I've heard about places like this, but never had a call until now. They call you up and get very aggressive and forceful, demanding you pay a debt, whether you actually owe it or not. They yell and threaten lawsuits, and try to scare you. They count on you not having an****ertive enough personality to resist and you sending money out of fear. If ***ody would fall for their scam, and never never pay them anything, these scúmbágs would wither on the vine and die.

They left a message, and I called back, talked to a lady (that's a generous application of the term). She asked if I knew ****** and I said that's my daughter. She wouldn't identify who she worked for but just asked me to have my daughter call them. I looked up the number on the internet, and found several reports similar to this one. So I called her back and told her that based on what I'd learned, I would not ask my daughter to call them. That's when she threw a hissy fit. She got very loud and called me names. Professionals do not act like that.

I have gotten several call calls from this company demanding I call back. When I decided to let them know they had a wrong number they became abusive looking for someone i do not know acting like i should know the person. if you get a call report it at best, yet do not reply to them. they are needing someone to scam and I believe it is not working is why they are so verbally abusive.

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our "God is a consuming fire." (Hebrews 12:28, 29 NIV)

I called the Federal Trade Commision at 877-382-4357 and the BBB of Orange County at 909-825-7280 to report Atlas Recoveries collection calls. They are calling for a person I do not know and refuse to stop calling my home. WHEN YOU CALL TO REPORT THEM, GIVE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION. Atlas Recoveries 3400 Irvine Ave. Suite 210 Newport Beach, CA 92660 (888) 317-3775 (949) 797-7100 Fax: (949) 797-7136 You should also send a Cease Communication letter via registered mail to the address I provided. By law they must stop contacting you if you sent a cease communication. If they break the law, you will need proof that you sent the request; hence, the purpose for the registered letter. I am taking them to court.
