To summarize all these comments, which are all true, we probably will not be able to affect a c****e in the ****ods being used by the General Electric Corporation, in handling and selling their credit accounts. You can feel sure that their highly paid legal department has researched the laws and regulations, to find the loopholes to allow them to do this. Complaint calls to the FCC and FTC may do some good to call attention to the matter, but their hands may also be tied, due to the loopholes As for trying to fight the calls themselves, this is all computer generated, designed a***n, by some highly paid ****ysts, to avoid your attempts to disarm it. Calls, answered by silence, are phishing calls, to determine if the number is a "live" one. This cuts down on the number of calls that need to be placed by their under paid employees in India, who speak poor "Engrish", as one comment said. Leaving your phone connected to the call does not tie up their line, as the computer senses this and disconnects. If you have service allows you to block numbers, this may work until they switch to using another number. Yes, there are ways to determine if a person has a cell number, from identifying them from their landline number. A***n, the best advice towards handling this problem is to just not answer calls from an unknown number. I know it is annoying but it is just a fact of life these days. For that matter, we really don't know who is behind this website (numberguru.com). It could be a clearing site for companies like GE to see what the public is doing to fight the system, and design further ways to defeat it. Good luck!

These guys just don't quit. It doesn't seem to matter that we are on a Do Not Call List. We finally got some software that works pretty good. We are just tired of all the calls from non-profit organizations, political organizations & just plain annoying. The software allows you to pick the message you want played back when these people call & you add phone numbers as you need. If a phone number is on the list, your phone will ring once then the software will pick up & play the message. The only drawback to the software is the computer needs to be on for it to work but you don't have to have it on the internet. As soon as we find out the same company is calling but with a different phone number, we just add that phone number. It is still abnoxious no matter what & it should be stopped. If it would be one of us continually calling them, they would turn us in for harassment.

12/28/2009 got my first round of calls on my cell with this same number. like the rest of you I don't answer calls I don't know who's number it is. Then they called back with number "with held" and a***n I don't answer. I blocked both numbers and will continue to block all number that are unknown to me.
