I received a call from 916-551-1317 and they left a message, it was the police department. I had filed a traffic claim and the investigating officers was calling me back. As mentioned above, this is a generic sacramento county outgoing phone number. If they leave a message it will be a totally different incoming phone number they will leave for you to call back. This is not a prank. Answer the phone if they call.

Our business is constantly disrupted by repeated phone calls from this number. Typically they s**** after 5pm and run every several minutes over the period of an hour or two - it's hard to have a Happy Hour when staff are constantly picking up the phone only to get a loud "BEEP!" blasted in their ear. Not only does it affect customer service, it is a nuissance to customers and staff alike and it costs us time, hence money. This is a real problem. It has gone on now for a good month and it has to stop. I would appreciate any information as to how to block this number permanently.-Streets Manager

It is a GENERIC outgoing City of Sacramento phone number -- In my case, it comes through my caller ID as Sacramento Marina, but my calls all come from the Water Utilities Department when I am "on call" for storm situations.

It is the City of Sacramento main PRI number that tons of calls originate from... you cannot call a PRI back, as it is a trunk of tons of other lines all put together. This is not a pay phone, scam or prank, it is someone from the City calling you.

My mother received a call today from (916) 551-1317 and the caller ID identified it as Sacramento City. When I did a search of all the City of Sacramento phone numbers it did not show up. I received a call from this number. They identified themselves as being from the Sacramento Police Dept. They asked me about being a witness to an accident. I was at the scene, but did not witness the accident and left it at that. I think the Heather Fargo comment is probably correct.

I rec'd a call from the number and you can't call it back but it is a generic number from the City of Sacramento. In my case it was coming from someone inside the building department.
