not a fraud, but call the number on your card anyway. I did and it checked out as they had record of the calls to my home and cell. if they call repeatedly it is because they suspect card fraud

I got this call someone claiming to be with chase, I told the person on the line to send me an e-mail at the e-mail address that is listed with my account. In the past when there is a problem with my account I have received a call and if I did not answer then an e-mail was sent to me which caught my attention. This person stated that she could not send e-mails. I told her to not call my number a***n and that I was going to call Chase and report this activity to them. She ***g up!!!

I just received a message from "Terry" at Chase Visa wanting me to call him back to confirm a su****ious purchase on my card. He called on 847-488-6000 but left 1-800-955-9060 as the call back number. I called the number and it answers as " Credit card fraud operations". No card name stated and they want you to input your account number first thing. Be sure to not do this as no credit card company operates this way.
(847) 488-6000 - June 23rd, 2010 4:00am
I received a call from 847-488-6000 who left a voicemail stating this call was from the card prevention department to verify some recent activity on my Mastercard. They requested I call 1(800) 955-9060. I called the customer service number on the back of my card and there was some irregular activity on my card. Someone attempted a $0.44 charge at a hotel several states away. I canceled the card immediately. I suspect the number is legitimate.

It sounds to me like this is a firm that companies like Chase and other merchant banks use to do some fraud-investigating matters. It's easier to farm out their clerical matters to wage-***** workers and not specialists.I've been contacted twice by this firm. Once was when my card was being used (legitimately) in a much higher volume than usual one weekend. The other time was when my CC# appeared in a database of "compromised" accounts. (This happens when police or other parties make busts of credit fraud rings and find huge databases of personal info. This can also happen when companies themselves foul up their data and lose records... you see this in the news from time to time)In any case, it seems like automated events triggered the process each time. I would speak to someone from Chase who would read to me a list of recent charges (they offer the data, not me) and i would say "yes, i remember that one" or "no, that sounds fishy" (I never needed to answer "no" to any question... all were legit)In the end, I was issued new cards each time and this firm trains people to work off a script where they say "a new card will take 5 business days" or some such. That is unacceptable, of course, but if you politely but firmly tell them that this isn't going to fly, they'll talk to a supervisor and get permission to overnight you a new card.

It's the number OF the call center that serves Chase Fraud. They called to report su****ious activity on a credit card. Pretty normal, but the call raised a red flag when the clerk asked for my mother's maiden name and my DOB at the very -end- of the conversation. Unsure if it was a legit caller or a s****ed caller ID I contacted Chase directly and verified that in fact my card had been used. The clerk at Chase told me that 'yes' someone had contacted me about the transaction. My advice, if you're unsure if a call was legitimate call your bank/credit card/financial ins***ution at the contact numbers listed on their websites or on the back of your card. Tell them about the call and ask them specifically if they where the ones who contacted you previously, verify the card is blocked (if it needs to be) and be nice to the phone monkeys. ;)This is probably the best due diligence you can do.
(847) 488-6000 - October 15th, 2008 4:00am
Got this call today, and called back the number on the back of my card to be safe. It was in fact Chase, and they suspecting fraudulent activity. They were right, and blocked it suspecting so (the company apparently had tried to put it through 3 times, each one failing). When I said it wasn't me, they shut down the account and will be issuing a new card.Chase has been great about learning my spending patterns. I travel nonstop for work and they never hassle me unless so****ing really obscure comes up...but I check my balance every other day to make sure nothing is wrong. I DO call them when I travel internationally, however.

I got a call from this number this morning. After looking it up, realized it was from my Credit Card company -- Chase. They were just doing a security check, since I have another user registered on the card. They will also restrict your online access to the card until you answer the security questions correctly. Calling and answering took less than 5 minutes, and then my online account was back a***n. So if you miss the call, just give them a call back (# is on the back of your chase card) and ask them why someone called you from Chase earlier.

I just received a call from a man, stating someone just tried to charge $106.00 to my J.C.Penney account with an expired card. I always shred them and wondered how that would be possible since I'm the only one on the account. Then he wanted my card number with expiration so "I could be issued a new card". Hello!!!!! If you are J.C.Penney, then you already know my number! He ***g up quickly when I told him "NO"!

This call er said they were Chase and went thru 2 other numbers as well-- 800-992-7169 and 900 432-3117. Contacts to the REAL Chase via customer service on the back of your credit card will tell you these ARE NOT real Chase phone numbers! this seems like fraud- do not give your personal info to these people!-
(847) 488-6000 - September 18th, 2008 4:00am
I didn't answer but other comments here prompted me to call CHase. It is a sales call looking to sell you fraud protection with some id protection/credit protection services as well. The cc companies already watch for unauthorized use of the card so they are trying to charge you for so****ing they already do for free...
(847) 488-6000 - August 25th, 2008 4:00am
It is legitimate. Chase Business card processing. Not to say that some thief cant s**** that particular number to make him look legit. As always, dont give out any info at all, but you can verify with them that you have applied for a new card or made unusual charges to your current card
(847) 488-6000 - November 17th, 2008 5:00am
This call ID came up. This is following my submission of several fraud complaints about Sonic Cameras, along with a Better Business Bureau complaint. I did not answer the phone. No message was left
(847) 488-6000 - August 20th, 2008 4:00am
They apparently don't only call when trying to protect your credit. I got a call and I don't have and have never had a Chase card. Smells like a sales call to me.
(847) 488-6000 - February 10th, 2008 5:00am
