This - I see now- has everything to do with Verizon Text. I just removed the Verizon-compatible sim card from my old phone, and am going thru steps to wipe it clean. I get the "pin text I didn't ask for"... Now we know for sure. Somehow the number is registered in a place that person can easily access.
