This is a phishing attempt..**** up and call your bank directly. Don't give out any personal info.

I called my CU, and they tell me this is valid. It is Falcon Security verifying charges made to an online website. Charges on websites are deemed "su****ious". It is good that are wat****g out for us, but as previous person mentioned it is a bit invasive. When you call the number there is no identifying information given on their part, they just launch into asking for your SS# so no wonder this number is flagged.
(800) 890-5097
This is a confimed company that is working with my CU to identify recent charges made to my Visa card. After receiving this call, before I verified any transactions I contacted my CU to verify that this was a company that they use to monitor purchases, and it is.
(800) 890-5097
It's legit. Just google the number and you will find it mentioned on TONS of credit union web sites
(800) 890-5097
I actually didn't listen very closely to the caller but it had so****ing to do with "verifying a recent purchase using my VISA card." First of all, I haven't used my VISA card in quite some time. I Googled the number and got this site and the many comments. I don't give out ANY info on the phone. If VISA wants info, they can write me. Beware of this number. (Also left a number of 1-800-437-9392 and asked me to actually get in touch with them at that number)

Totally legit! I was in my car last night trying to make a payment on my cell phone bill and I couldn't read the numbers on the back of my card that well and the first try the charge was denied. This company wanted to verify that I did make the payment and that I was still in possession of the card. The representative was very nice. I was a little nervous at first and weiry, but they are legit. They only asked for the last 4 digits of my ss#, not the enire number. It's nice to know that my bank is looking out for my well being - with the economy the way it is and all and I use my debit card for all of my purchases. I have put their phone number in my cell phone for the future - you never know.
(800) 890-5097
Yeah they are pretty legit, I had been trying to use my debit card to purchase some clothing online and it would not approve my card for some reason. So I continued to try to summit my purchase and it continued to deny my credit card for some reason. I tried it almost five time. I didn't understand why it denied my card because my funds were there. And so I called the number and they were just verifying that i made those transactions.
(800) 890-5097
This was my credit card company that hired a company to call me me because of unusual transactions of my online buying using my card. I then called my credit union directly to verify the call. They were legitimate. I am glad they flagged my usuage.
(800) 890-5097
Yes, this is a legit fraud prevention company and only calls when su****ious activity has occurred on your credit card. A wonderful service offered by my credit union.
(800) 890-5097
This is legit. They ask for the last 4 of your social which is harmless. Last night I used Western Union at 4am and I just got a call right now (the following day), asking if it was valid. Really seems like a phishing attempt but it's actually a good service. Travis Federal Credit Union.

This is actually a fraud alert notification Company through my Credit Union.I used my CU visa for a purchase and with in 4 hours I get a call from them that there was some questionable charges on my card. I recognized 1 but somehow someone, tried charging Itunes, electronics and some other company of the amount way over 300 dollars., I closed the card and will be issued another one. I verified through my credit union the next day. and yes, it is legit. You do not have to give your ss. if you feel uncomfortable , they can verify through your address and questions.you can also put a code word with your card company as well.you can also ask if there is a way. to put a cap on purchase amounts. then they can alert you if its over that.I guess crooks will find a way to steal from you no matter how carefull you are.Check your accounts often and keep in touch with your card and bank company.Thank goodness for this call. I would of never known until a month later.

It is legit. They do ask for last 4 digits of social, but that is it. I had been Christmas shopping and used my debit card at 5 different stores which sent up a red flag to my bank. They told me the name and dollar amount of each transaction and confirmed that I still had my card - that it wasn't someone else out using it.
(800) 890-5097
I checked with my Credit Union and they checked my account but didn't see anything unusual but also said I needed to check with my VIAS card. I called them and they said nothing was wrong and that the call was probably bogus. If they called YOU then they should already know who YOU are and you shouldn't have to give them your SSN.

IT'S A FRAUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION!!!! Called on Thanksgiving....who does that????????
(800) 890-5097
Called me around 10:30am on a Sa****ay to verify****entially fraudulent charges. Turns out to be $50 that I didn't authorize to be removed! Checked with my local credit union ***nch and all is legit. Just have to call on Monday to double check that they have fully canceled my card and put in for a new one to be sent out.
(800) 890-5097
Call from a credit union to verify what they felt was an unusual transaction. It was a $1.00 preauthorization for a subscription. The call was an automated recording with my name and the name of my credit union put in.
(800) 890-5097
This is a legitimate call, it's from a credit union(if your a member) they call u to verify your transactions to make sure your account was authorized for use, they check and make sure noone else has any info on act. I spoke with a person & it is LEGITIMATE.
(800) 890-5097
I have gotten repeated calls from this number asking for my identification, ie the last four digits of my social. I checked with my account. They did not call me and it is invalid...

My experience was identical to Marshall's. And the thing that triggered it was a purchase from a small Russian firm. I believe the additional activity that I had last night that was out of the ordinary was also part of it. I don't normally have 5 transactions after 5pm, like I did last night.I contacted the main AKUSA phone bank and the gal confirmed that the 800-890-5097 number is indeed their "After Hours Fraud Monitoring Department"They had accurate transaction information that only my credit union could have had as one of them was less than an hour old. Which would have confirmed to me that they were not phishing because they already had access to my account obviously. It is actually a reasuring thing to realize that they are behind the scenes wat****g for out of the ordinary transaction patterns. The day was very hectic and out of the ordinary for me as well as my account. So it was a welcome reassurance.

Actually, I think Alex S is a little too fast on the trigger. I got a call which said to call this number, and it REALLY sounded like a phishing scam, except that they identified the cardholders precisely, as well as the bank name. That information, together with the related phone number they were calling, is really difficult for a phisher to put together before-the-call.So I called it, and it turned out to be (confirmed by my bank) a firm my bank retains as an agent to do after-hours confirmation of su****ious transactions. They asked for the number which was called, as well as the last 4 digits of my SS number (useless to a phisher). They then rattled off 5 transactions which they flagged as su****ious, and asked me to verify or deny each one in turn. I think one of my transactions (a small internet order from an Australian firm) is what tripped their alarms.

It is clear the above comment is posted by someone involved in the scam. This number is fishing for personal information so that they can rob your accounts. I have verified this with my bank. Do not give the caller information and alert your bank and the Internet Crime Complaint Center (www.ic3.gov) to their activity.

rec'd automated call re: recent credit card activity, included my credit union name, my name & my spouse's. I don't reply to unknown msgs so I called my CU & cust. svc. said its valid, gave me this 800# to call and also said my account would be frozen if the fraud protection company was concerned & couldn't reach me. For obvious reasons, I called them immediately. Turned out to be 2 charges of concern: 26.50 for underwear & 11.26 for a book my husband ordered. The charges were 'su****ious' because the umbrella companies that handled the internet payments for the 2 stores were based in the UK. Seems any payments going out of the country are cause for concern. This seems a bit invasive to me & mine. Happy CU cares, but who would speak to an anon. caller showing up as 'private name, private #' about financial dealings???
(800) 890-5097
This is valid, not a fraud. I got a phone call asking me to verify transactions. They didn't ask for any personal information except for the last 4 digits of my SS number.
