I called Amex and they said there was no fraud activity on my accounts. The operator told me this was a scam.

They texted and later called about a fraudulent charge on my AMEX card. This is a legitimate AMEX phone number for their fraud protection department.

Called to say that I owe money for a money order in 2012. Asked for PII and I refused to give info until they could explain the company that sent them debt, and my full name. They could not.

If you call the number yourself, it's legit Amex and routes you to their fraud department ("Account Security Group"). they will also send you emails that will route you to this number if there are suspected fraud purchases. It's possible a spammer could s**** this number so I would be su****ious if this number calls you, especially if you don't have an Amex.
