After reading all of this, I am having a great laugh at those of you who see this as a scam. Just so you all realize, there is NO OBLIGATION to buy anything. NONE! Just go, take the tour, and get your prizes. That is all there is to it really. I mean sure, for some of you, it is a tank of gas, but for others maybe not so much. I know all about this whole ordeal, hands on experience, and I am here to tell you all, that it is no scam. Just be smart...if it sounds like so****ing that you want to do, then do it, but make sure that you read all of the fine print and so on. Otherwise, just say no, collect your gift, and go on!

I received 2 calls with messages left from this phone number. I called back and got the same yada yada yada about I won this car. She said by showing up to tour the resort, you would win 2 of 5 prizes automatically. The prizes were:1. a gift certificate to WalMart or Red Lobster (unknown amount)2. An IPOD Touch 3. A 500$ gift card 4. A 42" LCD tv 5. A Vacation or Cruise coupon. I'm guessing that you go and get a 10$ coupon to Red Lobster and a coupon to visit their ****ty resort. Needless to say it's funny to now know the scam behind the cars you always see sitting in the Mall. This was at a mall in Toledo OH btw.

OHHHHH! I AM SOOOOOOOOO POed! Thank you everyone for answering my question. I knew it was too good to be true. I could've kicked myself for entering my name into that *****in' contest. I spoke with a Janice today from that 973 number. FRICKIN' JOKE!

It is true that Lakewood Village resort does exist and you do get invited based on filling out an entry to win a car in a mall. Ours was a ***** mall while out of town. This is how about EVERY overpriced "deal" is done whether it be a sweeper that costs as much as a car or a campground that costs as much as a villa. The lure to such a "presentation" is a free prize and no obligation to win other than your time. Car-nee guys use this very same tactic at fairs with huge stuffed animals ****ing, while chanting, "everyone's a winner". Of course what they didn't tell you before you won that you get the ****ee prize under the counter. The biggest difference is, you are only out a buck.So the wife and I went to this presentation because we had nothing to do that day. We were taken into the "poster room" where we sat at a table with our "host". Of course there were several tables with several couples, each with their own host. THE PITCH s****ed off asking us how much we spent on taking vacations. Then how much we typically spent on hotels and so on. Then of course we were showed how much we would spend over time and so on. This was to be able to come up with a HUGE figure so they could save you money. Then the MAJORITY of the time was spent talking about luxury hotels and destinations that we could go to for a fraction of the price. We were then told how wonderful these places were by our host, who of course, goes there all the time. Then we were asked where we like to go, so our host could refer to the book to show us how many locations there are so we would be impressed and of course "dream" about the possibilities. The whole PITCH was based on this concept and you CAN NOT get this kind of deal without this special invite OR through any other company. Not only was this the MAIN pitch but also know as the BAIT.Then to make it "legal", our host invited us to take a walk though the "resort". This was basically our "home base" where we have our membership. We can use our home base as much as we like, we just need to be able to plan ahead and make sure a spot was open when we wanted to come. The cabins were small and of course had no TV's in them and the theory was family time is much better spent without one and we did agree....but still knew with 5 kids of various ages...*** chance but we are willing to try. We were told that by signing up for this membership it would be passed down to our kids and then grand kids so they would not have to pay a dime. The resort however, looked more like a summer camp for kids that went out of business. Couple ponds, a few cabins, and indoor swimming pool and a shelter house for probably bingo. None of this really meant JACK to us because the seed was planted about luxurious vacations. Plus we had been talking about taking the kids camping anyways.THE DEAL of course was enough to make you choke, but remember, the first thing we did was calculate how much we spent on vacations and how much that would cost over time, so even at $10,000, it's a fraction!!!! Of course for everyone's convenience, since ***ody carries that kind of cash around, the easy payment plan can be set up and even the deposit can be broke down into affordable amounts. So now we had a decision to make so we stepped outside to talk it over. Of course "the idea" was nice. To be able to take the kids on vacations at nice places for a fraction of the price and that we are paying for three generations and it could be our gift to them. They did have access to a marina and supposedly a golf course and if we did use the "home base" we could enjoy it for a mini weekend. BUT we still were not sure it was a good move.So we asked the question. Can we sleep on it? See it really wasn't the best timing and heck that's when all the deals come right? Without hesitation we were told under no certain terms were we allowed to sleep on it and once we left the gate, the deal was off and since it's "invite only", we can't get back in. NICE NO PRESSURE MOVE....So we signed up thinking we were doing so****ing for our kids.THE SWITCH didn't take long to figure out, in fact only a year. See that vacation **** at the best places at incredible prices was through ANOTHER company and that deal ended within a year and in order to continue to do it came with an additional fee. The marina cost extra, a***n probably owned by another company and who knows about the golf course as we have NEVER been back since the day we agreed to pay over $200 a month for the next 4 years. Oops, I'm sorry the next 3 years, but we forgot to add the yearly maintenance fees. Then we fell on bad luck and was unable to keep up and asked for help. Of course after waiting for weeks for a return phone call because they only fish on the weekends and heaven forbid they miss cat****g a new fish to deal with one already in the basket, we were told we had not paid into it enough to be able to sell it and when we were, we would have options. So we fell behind because with 5 kids, the HOUSE note gets paid before the CAMPGROUND does no matter how many nasty phone calls she makes....and it sounds like she is well practiced making them.So now after about 4 years and probably over 10k with late charges and additional fees, our camp ground membership has been paid in full. We have never used it we just want out to stop the yearly bleeding. So we call and ask what our options are and of course, there is ***ody working that can help us, just the lady that spends all week making nasty phone calls to others that probably feel like us. I get NO return phone call of course. But when the yearly dues come up....guess what, I get a phone call and I ask a***n about selling out. MY OPTIONS are simple. I get no help selling it and I have to pay a transfer fee and of course, it loses a generation. That it? So here is what your entry to win a car will get you with Lakewood Village Resort. A pitch to vacation with the snooties that is NOT really part of the deal. A PITCH to go boating, play golf or whatever else they have cut a deal with that is NOT really part of the deal. A membership to a camp ground that costs a college education AND THE BEST PART....still only gets you through the gate at Lakewood Village because if you want to stay in a cabin...THAT COSTS EXTRA!!!! When you leave and realize you didn't win the car, more than likely you will be handed a gift card to Red Lobster which just happens to be down the street. It won't even be enough to cover dinner. It must be nice working for them knowing that they do such a great job making dreams come true.

No..there is alot of names and yes it goes by regions in ohio..so..it does take awhile,,and there has been 3 winners since i have been there wich is a little over a year. You pull a kaey out of a bin of 5,000 keys and put it in an inginition switchboard,,,if it turns...you win,,if not,,then scratch off the gold circle on the invitation they will send you,,,and see what you get. Really folks i understand the whole scared point of thinking everything is a scam with the way things are these days,,,,but,,how dumb do you have to be to think its a scam if you havent been asked for any information over the phone??? You show up in person,,bring 2 forms of ID..and a credit card..checkbook,,,debot card...just so****ing to show proof that you have the ability to buy what we have to offer.,,we dont ask for the numbers..we simply just need you to show the card,,or checkbook or debot card ect. ect.. so you cant tell us....ohh...well i didnt bring any payment ****od with me i have to go home,,,NO..and you also have to bring your wife or girlfirnd if you co-habitate,,so you cant pull the good ol'"""well id have to talk to my wife/GF about this''''NOPE..she is right there beside you. If you dont like what you see pulling in....GO HOME...But DO NOT make****umptions. Call the number,,set your appt.,How could get you scammed just coming to collect a prize???? you WILL NOT spend any oney unless you want to buy the program...think about how you all sound rambliong on about shaky voices and paused answers n so on ect. ect.Ask yourself how that really sounds. ***ody is going to hold you hostage...if you dont like it,,.,,leave...if you do,,, then lend an ear. Lakewood Village Resort IS a TimeShare in Wapakoneta, OH...they ARE a member of the BBB with an A- accredidation. If you entered your name (or someone else did) to win a car at a local mall this is where they pull your name and phone number from. Really think about this if you have an unlisted number. For the lady that said she had to call back, that is a standard practice when you leave a message, be it for an appointment or a bill collector. Do your research before you call so****ing a SCAM! Ignorance is not bliss when it comes to winning so****ing. You never drop your name in the box at a local store? Maybe your friend did. I hate putting "unknown" as the caller type cause it was for a prize collection. (Oh! and if a producer from Judge Joe Brown calls after you file a lawsuit at a LOCAL small claims court - it's my advice to go for it! we did and it was NOT a scam.)

thank you so much for this post... i got a call from lakewood today and it saved me from their pitch... i got a call last week and told my mom it was prob a scam but their call today was more convincing so i called it back... while i was waiting for the phone call to be returned i found this... and im so glad i did so i didn't waste my time on a sales pitch... well fell for that once before in florida and ended up ripping the papers out of the lady's hand and tearing them up... when the lady from lakewood called me today and i said i did some research on the internet and wasn't interested she got pretty upset... thanks for letting others know what you've been through so they don't go through the same thing

I received a message from Valerie leaving two phone numbers 800-799-5871 ext 118 and 937-393-3781. She said I was a finalist in a drawing I entered at the Fairfield Commons Mall. I never entered a drawing but one of kids may have entered my name. She said I had a chance to win a car or $15000.00 in cash. I figured it was some sort of scam and glad I looked it up on the internet.
(800) 799-5871 - October 5th, 2010 4:00am
Well I got a call last night from a Chelsea also from Lakewood village Resort (I had to listed 3 times to understand where she was calling from)stating that I also was a finalist for a car or $15,000 in a drawing I had entered in January at a mall. I have not called back and am glad I researched this also -- I will NOT be calling back. Thanks for all the info.
(800) 799-5871 - November 12th, 2010 5:00am
HOW DO YOU PEOPLE THINK OF IT AS A "SCAM"? NO ONE IS FORCING YOU DO DO IT. YOU GO YOU LISTEN TO THE PRESENTATION AND JUST SAY NO TO BUYING ANYTHING. THEN GET YOUR PRIZE AND GO HOME. DON'T ENTER ANYMORE DRAWINGS. YOU SHOULD KNOW THERE IS A CATCH IN ANY DRAWING....
(800) 799-5871 - October 21st, 2010 4:00am

(800) 799-5871 - May 28th, 2010 4:00am
So is everyone that entered a finalist and its just taken you this long to get ahold of everyone who entered? Then no one wins the 20k and you just do a advertising bit for us to win a stuffed animal or so****ing?
(800) 799-5871 - March 5th, 2010 5:00am
Well, apparently they are diligent because they are still using the same bait as last year. You guys are right it is a SCAM!!!!!! Don't believe the hype.
(800) 799-5871 - October 6th, 2009 4:00am
they said they were with Lakewood Village Resorts out of Wapakoneta and the girl talking sounded very nervous and shakey on the phone. Her name was "Denise". Lakewood Village is an RV park. They used 937-393-3994 with LVR as the caller ID, and gave the "main office" s***ch. I called the 800# back and the girl had "gone out to lunch" and it was 4:25pm. Doesn't seem right. I called the campground itself and they stated if you take a tour then you can be entered into a contest. I don't believe it but that's me.
(800) 799-5871 - November 10th, 2009 5:00am
Received a call from 937-393-3994. A lady name Janice left a message stating I was a finalist in some 20,000 cash drawing. I never filled out any form for a contest. I called the number back and some lady answerd "Lakewood Village Resort". I asked her who she was and she just repeated Lakewood Village Resort Award Center. She asked me my name and I asked her where she got my name. She s****ed stuttering and sounding very nervous.I just ***g up. Total Scam!!!!!!!!!!
(800) 799-5871 - October 13th, 2009 4:00am
