Anyone who says it's Macy's is lying. I get calls from them from multiple numbers claiming I need to contact them regarding my Macy's account. Problem: I've never shopped at Macy's. I've never even been inside one. I don't have a Macy's account. Complete and utter scam.

I thought it might be spam so I called the number on my credit card and it was legitimate. I apparently missed a bill and was late with a payment (which I went ahead and paid automatically to the number on the card).

Call saying that I needed to call them about my Macy's account. Really? Cause I don't have a Macy's account. AND I check my credit each month, as well as having a monthly statement from all 3 credit reporting agencies. No one has opened one in my name, either. So I knew this was a scam. Just mad that they are doing it. The calls won't stop!

The call is legitimate, but I wouldn't call the number given in the recording. Use the customer service # located on the back of your credit card. In my case it turned out that the payment I made 2 weeks ago by email still hadn't posted to my account which left my balance past due. Apparently it was an post-date error, but they fixed it.

Got calls but didnt answer. Checked my Macy's accounts after reading these sites and the store card part of the account was past due for a few months! The credit card part was fine. Not sure if scam or not, but good thing I checked the accounts.

This is a collection agency for Macy's. I checked after reading these sites and I DID have a past-due balance on the store card part of the card, not the Amex part of the card. I had no idea :(

I work for Macy's and we would never call and ask for your personal information. This is a spam and it's someone trying to get your information. Do not give your account number out... It is not in Any way related to Macys or your Macy's card... We are looking into this matter.

I have receive the call daily to my cell phone (recently 5 minutes ago). What I don't understand is that when I answered it, the automated voice told me to call the number back? I was on the line with them, why call them back. To me alone, that sounds strange. Thank you everyone for posting.

Received the call every Monday on my business line. I called the number - India Call Center for Macy's Credit. I warned them not to call my number a***n that this is a business line. They said it should take 24 hours to clear the number from their system. We'll see!

I receive calls daily from this number.  I've called the number twice and both times the first thing they ask for is my account number (I don't have a Macy's card).  I subsequently called 8668493243 to block my number.  Thanks to all for the information about this scam.

I received a call from 800 511 3207 today on my answering ma****e. they said it concerned a "personal business matter". I won't call them back, but I will call my local Macy's number in the morning and check with them. I think someone is pfishing.

Got a call from 866-849-3243 and it was a recording that I needed to call 800-511-3207 to reach macys.  When I called it was a recording about getting the next representative and then a track of old staticy music...checked this site and ***g up.  I don't think it was valid as ther is nothing wrong with my macys account and no past due bills.

Asked for personal info including my Macy's account number and last 4 digits of my SS#.

I received a early morning call from this # (12/30/08) stating that it was a very important business matter. When I called them they asked for personal info that I didn't feel comfortable giving so I called Macy's directly with one of their numbers. They said that this ISN'T one of their numbers. I don't have an account with them & have only made one purchase with them on my own credit card in the last few days. I don't know what to make of this call.

I got a recording phone call to phone 1-800-511-3207 regarding my account. I phoned the number and the person (male) asked for my account 3 and etc. I refused and ***g up It sounded like a SCAM to me, there is no reason for Macy's to phone me, my sccount is in 100% excellant standing.

I s****ed getting these calls too, but they only lasted for a week and then took a month hiatus.  When they s****ed back I called the 800# back to see what it was about, but there was no "Thank you for calling...." just "please wait for the next available representative".  Like everyone else I would not give them any info except the phone number they are calling and was told that they couldn't look me up without a name because they only go by the last 7 digits of the phone number.  When I asked to speak to a supervisor to get my number taken off the call list, the rep put me on hold, then came back and said she could do it without a supervisor.  Of course, the calls have not stopped.I called Macy's customer service- they knew nothing of these phone calls or why I would be getting them since I don't have a Macy's account and the only person in my family who did have a Macy's account closed it a year ago.  I just want the calls to stop.

Received call from 866-849-3242 and asked to call 800-511-3207 for "an important business matter." Because my ex (and his relatives) uses my number for his debtors, I ignored the calls for a while. However, they call EVERY DAY. I finally called to put an end to it. I double talked the indian representative. First she said she represented Macys, then Bloomingdales than back to Macys. She persisted in asking for my account #, name and address. When I gave bogus info, she grasped at the last straw and asked for my social security number. I laughed, told her I knew they were running a scam and then told her to kiss my a**.I wonder how many folks they actually fool to giving up the info? Talk about your iden***y theft!BEWARE!

I've also received several calls from this 8668493243 regarding an important matter from Macy's. After the first couple of times I was curious so I called the 8005113207 number the message left and they wanted my account number. When I asked what this was about the guy had no clue and persisted that I give him my account number. When I said no he became almost angry and when I said your service called me you should know why and gave him my phone number to look it up, he ***g up on me. I then called Macy's and they****ured me that my account was in good standings with a ($0) balance. I've been receiving calls from these people for almost a month now the latest was just about 20 minutes ago.  BEWARE THIS IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!

Best you can do here is respond and give them massive amounts of mis-information to tie up their time since computers have all the time in the world.  That is who you are dealing with/ Hit them where it hurts.

Got multiple voice mails from mthis number asking to call back on a Macy's related matter. I called back "after" I had contacted Macy's to confirm that all my accounts were up to date, which they were. I called 800-511-3207 back and asked to speak to a "manager". First thing he asked was for my Macy's account number which I obviously did not give to him. I even told him that there were no Macy's account holders at this address and his reply was that the numbers are sometimes mixed up and linked to other accounts. When I asked for an explanation of why they would call someone, he simply stated that he could not give me any information without my account number. I asked to be removed from their listing and told him that a formal complaint would be filed with the FCC if they did not stop calling  my house. When I called macy's, the could not tell me why I was getting the calls, nor did they recognize the 1-800 number. Manager called "Mark Allen" - -  with a heavy Indian Accent, told me that the company he was calling from was ACL technologies... when I asked for their mailing address, he gave me Macy's Customer Service mailing address, not his company's mailing address.?.!.?.this is very fishy and I doubt that any legitimate company would conduct business this way.

Received message to call 800 511 3207. On call back could not get past computer which gave no info. Later received Macy's Credit bill for $76. Calling the local number on the bill led to Macy's Customer Service and a helpful representative. She verified the bill and said the charge was for 2 magazines. I explained that we had bought no magazines and had never used the credit card. She said that it appeared to be based on our response to an offer included with mail when we got the card. We had the card several years. Still she said it was in response to an offer that we accepted. We accepted no offers. She called the people who were responsible for magazine sales and got their****urance that the charge would be removed. She said she would "waive" the service charges. When I asked about credit agencies, she said they would be advised. When I asked about the calls from 8005113207 she tried the number and found a way around the computer. Man with Indian accent and Anglo name answered. The department name he used was very long. He was no help beyond acknowledging leaving the messages. I asked the customer rep how I could be sure that similar charges would not appear in a couple of months. She could only process instructions not to include marketing info with my bill. They apologized, but no one ever admitted to Macy's having made an unauthorized charge to my account or the possibility of there being a problem with their process that resulted in the charge to begin. -- Last, I received the bill showing the charge for the magazines 4 days ago, but after various late charges. A prior balance was indicated but that also was zero.

I don't have a Macy's account and I've been receiving these calls for weeks. They didn't just ask for the last four of my social, they wanted the whole thing. I contacted Macy's via their customer service number listed on their website and I had them check to make sure that someone hadn't stolen my information and used it to open an account. Nope. Not a single thing listed either under my cell number, social security number, or my home address. ***a. I've never had a Macy's account in my life and really have no plans to in the future. I get these calls at least three times a day at bizarre hours. Sometimes in the middle of the night. It's getting really frustrating at this point.When I actually answered one of the calls from this number (the connection was HORRIBLE and the guy barely seemed to speak english), the guy first asked me for my Macy's account number. I told him I didn't have one and he insisted that I give him my social security number. I was like uh-uh. I asked to speak to a supervisor at which point I was put on hold. And by "on hold" I mean the phone was literally set down on a desk or so****ing. I could hear noises in the background, other phones and voices. I was ****ed enough about these phone calls that I waited nearly 1/2 hour and still no one came back, so I ***g up.There seriously is so****ing very fishy about this whole thing. I would really recommend that you don't give them your social security number, your account number or anything. Perhaps they are legit, but stay on the safe side and call the real Macy's number that's listed on their website to check on your account. I think these people are just fishing around****uming that many people have Macy's cards and won't suspect what they're doing...

My mobile rang and there was a recording from 800-511-3207 but not real voice mail or purpose of the call.

I received an automated message ON MY CELL PHONE stating that it was an important call from Macy's and to please call back at 800-511-3207.  I did and got a message that calls would be recorded for quality purposes, then was told that all calls were answered in the order they were received and to please hold for the next available reprensentative.  Then twice got a recording thanking me for my patience.  HA!  No one ever answered.  I got cut off three times.  I checked the caller id on my cell and the number showed 866-849-3243. So I googled it and what to my wandering eyes did appear.......

me a***n, if you call back the number that was on the caller id 866-849-3243 they say that if you are calling due to a message received **** up and they may try back later but if you want to prevent getting called from them a***n then all you have to do is enter your phone number and it blocks it - so it is for sure some sort of scam because Macy's (or any reputable company that you get credit cards through) would not allow you to block your number from receiving calls from them...

I too received an automated call telling me to call that phone number. after reading these posts I first checked my account balances ($0) and then called but refused to give any info except the phone number they called from. when they asked me for my name I told them to tell me who they were calling for but they wouldn't do it so i told them that if they can't tell me who they called for then i am ****ing up so he said ok, if you 'd like you can call us back and verify and he gave me a completely different phone number to call (he garbled some of it) but I think the number he gave me was macy's correct number. This is a total scam!!

I just called back the 800-511-3207 number after receiving a message to call about a "business matter" with Macy's - knowing I don't even have a Macy's account, I called back with some su****ion. They asked for my account #, and when I said I didn't have one, asked what phone number they were calling me on so they could look it up. Come to find out it's an incorrect phone number on someone else's account, so they removed me from the list. We'll see if I get any additional calls.

I received 2 calls in the past two days from this automated person stating to call "today" regarding "a personal matter" from Macy's.  Being a skeptic, I called Macy's (actual) Customer Service.  They did not have any record of the 1800-511-3207 in their company.  The representative also stated that if they (Macy's) actually needed to speak to me, it would be an actual person not an automated person with a call back number.  Since I have not used my Macy's card in years, I checked my balance....zero (good).  I'm tempted to call that number and ***** with this scam.  In the meantime, I'm closing my Macy's acct.

I had a very similar experience.  I received an automated call from 866-849-3243 and I called back this number, even though it sounded very su****ious.  Interestingly they didn't have caller id, so I was only willing to give them the area code and phone number they had called, they told me their computer system was only capable of looking me up on the last seven digits of my phone number -- it did NOT use area codes!  What kind of incompetent system design is this?  They had to have the area code to call me!   I wasn't about to give them my account number or SSN, since I didn't believe them to be Macy's.Since it sounded so su****ious, I ***g up and called Macy's corporate office in Cincinnati (513-579-7000) and they were eventually able to confirm that the calls and these phone numbers are legitimate.  Certainly not making any goodwill for Macy's though.

I just dealt with this very same issue, here is clarification:The call IS from Macy's because your account is likely showing that it is past due.  If like me, you made your payment online so you're sure that your account is not past due, you're very upset!  The issue is that your Macy's card is a Visa card, so it essentially maintains two account - an in store Macy's account, and a separate Visa account (which you can use anywhere).  I made my payment online through the Macy's website to what I thought was my Macy's card.  It was applied to the Visa account which had a $0 balance, so I then had a credit of the payment on the Visa account and a past due on the Macy's account.  The site is misleading and never clarifies which account you are paying.  I apparently was paying the Visa account but the Macy's logo was showing in the top left (this is on the eBilling and Payment powered by CheckFree website).  The best thing to do is call Macy's and tell them your payment was applied to the wrong account and ask if they can transfer it.  They must have tons of issues with this because even when you sign up with Macy's to have an online account (to make ordering easier) and you link your card to it, if you try to pay online, and you choose the first option, it doesn't show the difference between the two accounts (Note: Notice that the number on your card is different from the Account number on your bill).  If you use the QuickPay option, it will give you a pull-down to choose between the Macy's Visa account and the Macy's Store account.  It's a very ****** way to handle these accounts, but I hope this helps someone out and that we can get these nonsense calls to stop.I recommended to the customer service person that they clarify on their site in a more obvious way which account you are paying.  It would save them time and money to make this simple c****e!

Call ID's from 8668493243 but the return number they leave is 800 511-3207. This is absolutly NOT legit. My Macy's account is paid in full, with the payent already showing on my checking account. They, of course, want my account number. When I told them they couldn't have it, they didn't seem to care at all, they just thanked me for calling and ***g up.

I keep getting this call from Caller ID: 866-849-3243 which is a recording claiming to be Macy's calling for "(hubby's first name) the 100th (hubby's last name)" & to call 800-511-3207. What is with "the 100th" in the middle of hubby's name?! Very weird. However, my Macy's account IS totally *****ed up since somehow they have two account numbers for us & my last payment was posted to the second account, for which I do not even have a card (I'm****uming it's my old Filene's account number from over two years ago when Filene's & Macy's merged, or whatever they did, & our local Filene's closed). I had that old account number in my online banking bill-pay page, but I corrected it; anyway, one would think an alert would come up - must be ****py computer programming in their accounting system. So, my current account is now showing a late payment, finance charges, etc. I have called Macy's regular customer service number twice & the reps I spoke to sounded like they were in a "boiler room"; the last rep spoke very heavily accented English, so I had a lot of difficulty understanding her. Both****ured me, of course, that the payment posted to the "old" account would be transferred to the current account & the old account would be closed, yet I just got another statement showing that that hasn't happened. So I wrote a lengthy,****ertive letter explaining the situation & asking for a prompt response. I'm also on the DNC list. And, I'm none too happy with Macy's in general.

Same story -- automated calls claiming to not be solitation and from Macy's, leaving this number to call. I tried calling it but it sounded like a scam so I ***g up to try to find # online and discovered this. FYI, I haven't used my macy's account in 3 years, so not sure how they got my number.

I also keep getting calls from this number. The person on the other end kept insisting she was from Macy's but couldn't explain why people call her. She wouldn't give me one reason, NOT ONE REASON, why someone might call her. Pretty sketchy...

this number had been calling me nonstop for weeks claiming that it was NOT  solicitation call and that it was regarding my macy's account. I called macy's directly but apparently there was nothing wrong with my account. i thought the problem was solved but this number kept on calling. so i finally called the number back and it went straight to "please hold for the next available representative", which i thought was fishy. i didnt feel comfortable with the phone call so when the guy asked me for the last four digits of my social, i asked him what agency he works for and where have they been calling me from. he gave me an answer that i could not understand due to his heavy accent. i then asked him what exactly does his agency do for macy's? he said he couldn't hear me. i asked him a***n and a***n i could not understand his response cause he was basically speaking gibberish. so i told him im gonna call macy's instead and ***g up.

got a call on my home phone voice mail to call Macy's at this number.  My bill isn't due until next month -- but I called back anyway. Automactic voice said "your call may be monitored for quality insurance".  Then it rings a***n and a automated voice says "please have your customer number available for the next customer rep...etc.".  I ***g up. I will add that I just opened a Macy's account last month AND I am on the U.S. Federal do not call list.

I got this call (automated) just before 5 PM East coast time and as I work part time for Macy's East I called the CS #.The girl told me the best they could figure out was it might be a solicitation for a Macys' Visa. So I'm wondering why the last poster got confirmation it is a Macys #.....
