I got a voicemail from this number and was similarly su****ious. One red flag was that the message stated that I needed a code (0500) when I called back, and the code was not requested upon my returned call to the same number. I did listen through the first transaction and the amount and location did not sound familiar and were not reflected on my statement online, raising additional concern. My next step was to **** up and dial 1-800-DISCOVER. I used the menu prompts to validate transactions, and the first one matched the amount and location I heard when I dialed back the 350-4577 number, which gave me the feeling that the call was legitimate, but did not calm my concern about the transaction, which was attributed to another state.I selected the options to dispute the transaction, and after getting routed to Discover Customer Service I was transferred to a fraud prevention center. Upon further investigation, it turned out that the transaction was a pre-authorization for a valid charge that WAS reflected on my statement. It was for a restaurant, and the transaction in question was the amount before I added the tip. The differential in company/location name is probably because of a parent company vs. local franchise (local being the one reflected on the statement), which is not uncommon. So, bottom line, the charges were valid. But it's good to know that it's being monitored, because I was traveling recently on business so there were transactions in a far away state. I would rather be contacted over a non-issue than have an actual issue overlooked.

I received a telephone message to call the Discover Card Fraud Dept. 800 350 4577 I did call but was not totally comfortable with calling a number I was not sure was Discover. I thought I had canceled my Discover card a year ago via a telephone call to Discover, but had received a new card last month. I would not give the "Fraud Division" information beyond my name and the fact that I did not make any purchases on the card. I then called the Customer Relations of Discover Card and found out that the original call WAS VALID AND SOMEONE WAS USING MY CARD NUMBER!. Discover did not put the charges through and I appreciate the call and****istance in finally closing that accoun**** IS A CALL FROM DISCOVER...AND IT IS WISE TO RESPOND TO THE CALL!! There was thousands of dollars charged to a card i thought had been closed.

Twice this morning 1-800-350-4577 called my cell phone number but did not leave a message. Since I did not recognize the number, I did not answer it. Checking the internet, I found that it may have been the fraud department at Discover.I called the main Discover card number on my credit card 1-800-DISCOVER. The person I spoke with stated the 1-800-350-4577 was from another state and was from their fraud dept. I was glad I called Discover because I did have a charge a***nst my account from a VARIO INTERNET SERVICES that I had not authorized. Discover shut down my account, due to the fraudulent charge, and will send me another card overnight.

Multiple calls from this company pretending to represent Discover Card. They are phishing for our account information and trying to get our names, accnt#, phone#, SSN, etc. I contacted Discover Card and they do NOT recognize the number that is displayed on our Caller ID. I called the company that called and told them to stop calling, a***n, they asked for our PII which I would not give, nor our account number. We are NOT delinquent on any debt and these folks keep insisting that we give them our account number so that they can help us. We have received recurring calls from this number, all automated.

They say they are the fraud department but how do you know? Anyone could s**** a call these days. You can program a cell phone to show a different name and number. When I brought that issue up with the person who answered the number, she suggested that if I wasn't comfortable giving out my personal information to her to verify my last three transactions to call the number on the back of my card 1-800-DISCOVER instead and that would also route me through. I did and the automated system asked me to confirm the last three transactions.I think Discover should make that the proper way to confirm.

I got two messages from that number asking me to call back to confirm 3 transations og my discover card. But I checked my online accounts and there is nothing wrong with the account and called the number on the card talked to the customer service regarding this, the Rep said the call was from their fraud protect department but he didn't ask me to confirm the transaction. So I am not sure if the number is spam or what.

The number belongs to Discover Card and is used for automated fraud checking...but...with VOIP Caller ID can be s****ed. Don't ever give out account info, passwords, social, date of birth or any personal info etc. on an inbound call. Make a note of what they say and then call back on the number on the back of your credit card.Better to be safe than sorry.

Legit number. Called Discover back on a different 800# that's on the back of my card and got an automatic request for verification of the same request. No info was requested since I called from my home number, except for the last 4 digits of the card and last 4 of SS#.
(800) 350-4577 - November 12th, 2010 5:00am
The message said it was Discover Card's Fraud Protection service. I called the number and just had to press 1 to confirm 3 transactions I'd made on Amazon. They didn't ask for my account number or anything, it seems legit to me.

I called the number back and it is Discover frued protection unit. They will call the owner of the credit card to confirm if a recent charge was made. At least we know that Discover is on the ball.

Your report matches my experience word for word. A bogus charge of $1.00 was attempted last night by someone claiming to be "Vario Internet Services". Discover locked the account and called me this morning.
(800) 350-4577 - July 13th, 2010 4:00am
It's Discover card's fraud department. They asked only for the number they had originally had the voicemail with and if I approved a specific transaction. It's a valid number.
