Left a message. Chartway credit union fraud dept. calling to verify activity on my account. I had called to find out why my debit card kept declining, and discovered that someone got my card number and tried to charge things. I was told that the fraud dept would reach out to me. This is not a spammer or telemarketer.

They were calling to verify that fraudulent activity had not occurred on our account due to a larger than usual purchase. The purchase was legitimate, but it was nice to know that they are wat****g my back.

This number called claiming to be USAA fraud. My phone even listed the call as USAA when it showed up on my caller ID. They stated that my card was used in another state, and that they were going send me new cards. The scammer knew my name, phone number, address, and bank. They claimed the new card would cost $24.99, but would waive the fee (that isn't even the correct cost for an expedited new card with USAA). They then stated that my login has been compromised and it was being used in another state. They stated that they needed my user name and password in order to reset my system. I ***g up the phone and then called USAA directly to verify. The agent told me that it was obvious fraud and that they would never ask for a username or password over the phone, especially if they called me. The agent was very helpful and****isted me with resetting my passwords just in case it was compromised. The agent told me that fraud calls have skyrocketed due to COVID and so many people being out of work. He said that they are able to make their calls appear as if they are coming from anywhere, even legitimate corporate phone lines. After the initial phone call from the scammer, I received about 3 more calls from numbers that were flagged by my phone company as SPAM. I can only****ume that they were from the same people trying to get my bank account information. The other numbers that were flagged as SPAM were: (843)266-1557 and (843)867-3989.

This is USAA Fraud Prevention. Why doesn’t USAA use one of its commonly known numbers to contact us regarding su****ious credit card activity? This number itself is su****ious and when they s****ed asking for personal identifying information, I ***g up and called USAA directly.
