Got a call yes****ay from 713-401-2837 containing a recorded message allegedly from Verizon asking me to call 800-249-2462 and to enter a 10 digit phone number, 281-731-6194 belonging to "Pedro Polo. “ Of course I did not do that.

Having been with Verizon since the 90's -- I recognize the legitimate Verizon messages... and this isn't one of them. If there's a need for me to call them about account status, problems, or c****es, Verizon will text me the number to call. AND they will already have all of my information. My advice is like some of the others on here.. don't call this number back, and don't give out any of your information. Either go online to Verizon or call 611.

I'm getting these calls too. So they must be s****ing it up a***n. They left a voice mail to call the 800-249-2462 number and provide my information. After I ***g up, I checked my phone to see what time they called and my BB was either uploading or downloading info so I took the battery out. I don't know if one thing has to do with the other but I wasn't going to tack any chances.

I found this number to be legitimate too. They knew exactly how much money my verizon account was past due and there was an option to say that the payment is on the way. They already knew my name and phone number and didn't ask me for any other information. I would suggest to everyone to never give out any personal information to an unknown party that is calling you. If your verizon account is past due you should go to the official verizon website to get the phone number and call them to pay instead of giving your payment over the phone to someone who is calling you. Better to be safe than sorry!

I share an account with my grandmother and her number is the primary line on the account. So after i have received these calls from 206-315-3010 and she hadnt, i thought it was a scam. I then s****ed to google the numbers****ociated with the call. I found out that it is a scam. Most of the stories i have found say that they owed $300 to their account. Seems kinda fishy to me.

I just got the same call but actually had an origination number listed as 248-915-3797 - GOTCHA!!!!. Hopefully they will make some progress with these scammers. They even had the audacity to tell me it was for a Mr. Mark Nash, which is #1 incorrect and #2 not any part of this numbers history. I guess they thought they'd get lucky, or convince me to call and try to c****e the name****ociated with the account. Better luck nex time!

It's 100% totally LEGITimate. Scammers are criminals. They not this detailed & sophisticated to setup a multimillion dollar automated phone system complete with interactive database! My Verizon account was indeed past due by the exact amount claimed. When you call this 800 # and enter the mailbox code that was left on your answering ma****e, your correct account information including full name, EXACT current balance, and EXACT past due amount are then read to you from the automated system. You do not have to give away any information whatsoever.... simply press 3 or 4 to say payment was made or already on the way.IT"S LEGIT.

How do we know this "John" that posted on Oct 20 isn't with the scammers? He's the only one posting that it's legit... sounding about as "detailed & sophisticated" as a scammer.I got a call (in fact four) similar to what was already reported (i.e., Brian, Sarah, Bob) and so I called 611 from my mobile phone (a number we should all know very well) and the Verizon agent said he would get his supervisor involved in alerting their fraud department. In any case, you're better off calling 611.

My sister received a phone call on my phone saying that there was a c****e in status on my phone. She passed the message on to me and my mother googled the #. She told me not to call it thank god. I told my sister if there's any c****es in my plans that I usually get a note about it. ANYWAY I immediately called customer services and removed my old house phone from my contacts list. I was told that this # was a scam.

I received a call from this number, also Verizon. I called it back and entered the code that I was given. It told me that I had a past due balance, which was true. I pressed a few more ****ons to let them know that payment was on the way and that was it. It was all an automated ma****e. I'm not sure how it could be a scam. I didn't give them any personal information. Just said payment is on the way.

I received an automated call from Par3, 206-315-3010, on my house phone, saying there was a c****e on my account that needed a reply by tomorrow. To call 1-800-249-2462 with a code to clear up the matter. This is the second time in 2 weeks that I have received a call like this. My son told me to google the number and I am glad I did not call.

Received another "Verizon" call. "There is a c****e in the status of your account. Please call 1 800 249-2462 and enter code 986265". RRIIGGHHTT! Do not call them, call Verizon and report it. After my previous post, Verizon called me back to tell me that a lot of folks were getting the phishing calls and that it wasn't them. Good luck to all.Brian

This sounds like a scam that is going on now. I was called before about a "c****e to my billing, and ifformed that I owed over $93, payable immediatly. I called Verizon and had my zero balance confirmed. I called their fraud department and they called me back a few days later to tell me that they had done some internet checking, and that it was a scam.I did not get nailed, and I hope no one else does either.Best regards,Brian

Call came in at 8:30 AM on my cell phone. Stated there was an immediate problem with My Verizon Wireless account and I should call and enter the message ID at the prompt. I called the number and a recorded message stated to call 1-800-Verizon Talk to "hook up" with local people on their network. It never did ask to enter a message code and then clicked twice and went dead.I'M NOT EVEN WITH VERIZON!!!
