It's not spam, it's someone from jail trying to get a hold of you problem is after you give your CC number and they charge your account it takes a while before someone comes on the phone and in the meantime they are deducting $$ from you account. I know my son was trying to call and I put $25 and waited 12 minutes and still no son came on the phone. I ***g up and called the 877 number on my bank statement and checked my balance it was down to $15.00 and some c****e. I didn't get to speak to him at all

wow people aren't as smart as i give them credit. it's neither a scam or spam. it's global tel link a correct call company based in Texas but provides services to many states. they provide collect calls from jail or prison. so it doesn't mean that the call is necessarily coming from Texas it can be any state the company as a contract with. hope that clears it up for everyone.

I keep recieveing collect calls and out of all day i answered today. I got tired of hearing "Family Emergency", however the guy said he was an officer and can only give me the persons booking number and a place to call to get more information which is (*721-323-347-8148). Why would they not be able to give me ther persons name right off the bat and why are they calling collect. From what i can a jail staff member calls when someone is incacerated or your friend or family memeber does.

First off - When you recive a call of your Cel you are c****ed w/ that call, as in my case I am w/ AT&T . I called AT&T they offer "no" help other thne c****e my number and i didnt think they would since they make "money" each time I anwser the call. My home phone will block "collect", "unknown", "900" or "800" number but AT7T Cel will not... I will be calling after I get my bill and have each c****e removed. Second thing - I called the maze of numbers for Global Tel, they are a phone service for inmates and I am sure they dont want to talk to any of those inmates so my calls always ended w/ a leave your number and we will call you back, like inmates can recive calls...lol. Solution - Any way the orginal call might display this number but that does not mean the call came from the Jail in the recording or the number displayed, I was informed its part of the routing. So what iI did was call customer service to set up new account, you always get a real person there...lol and told her the story. She was very very nice , understood and knew what was going on , added my Cel number to her list of "do not call" and case closed. Seems your number gets added to a list and if it works all the inmates will use it. I got 8 calls in one day, your number is a bounce number for a pre paid service and to add a credit card for call funding. They only need a working number to add this card, its not to charge your Cel just to complete their adding of the new credit card.

gota call from 713-981-0098. have family in houston so though one of my brothers had went to jail and was calling me..call said twin towers..some guy name deshaun s****ed talking about he found my number in his cellphone and it keeps popping up and wanting to no if i have a job and where i work and if i'm single and if i wanted to work for him at verizon downtown..asked him how he got my number when it was unlisted and that i had no clue of who he was and why was he calling me from the tqin towers..his excuse was he on his break and his job his close to the jail downtown..after he kept asking me about my personal life i ***g up the phone. Now getting my number c****ed.

for most of the people in the comments make this sound like a scam but it sadly is not. Most County Jail Systems only allow outbound "collect" calls. since cell phones can not accept collect calls the jails they {the jail system)contract with this thrd party system to handle it. the fees are outragious however if someone you know has been locked up it WILL be the only way to contact family if all you have is a cell or a phone that will not take collect. For the listers here i only hope it was not a call from someone they love trying to get a hold of them in an emargancy
