The number was in my missed calls (the call came in when I was at work and unable to answer) Called back while on break (using *67) but the number had been disconnected or c****ed, according to the recording. So most likely it's a s****ed caller ID info. It's interesting that a previous poster said it's so****ing about insurance rates, as that sort of issue is so****ing I had gone through with my homeowner's insurance agent recently.

PS. If a number has called you, and when you call it back it says the number has been disconnected, this is a full size telephone scam to gather numbers through a computer system. Do you think the phone company disconnnected them in the few minute for you to call them back? Not likely. The truth is they have reproduced a normal telephone company recording, embedded it into the program for incoming calls. And there you have it.

called both my mine and my husbands phone at the same exact time while we were sitting next to each other. our numbers are one digit off from each others. Obviously it is some sort of computer program making the calls. Best not to answer calls from numbers you don't recognize. Answering it gets you on the top selling telemarketing list. The do not call list is a scam that millions have bought into- yet wonder why they still receive calls. Just so you know, when you answer your phone, your number is marked for the A list. Scammers get a lot of money for an A list of phone numbers that are guarneteed to answer- even if you said no thank you, get lost, take me off your list or just ***g up. If you let your answering ma****e pick it up, you are put on the B list, these are numbers where your chances of having someone pick up on the other line are good, but not guaranteed. If you do not pick it up, you are on the C list, these are what is called Dead numbers. These numbers are mixed into an B list to ***ten up the list, making a B list worth more money to purchase. If you put your name on the do not call list... it really doesn't matter, the people gathering your numbers are those who are selling them. They do the very same thing at the post office. It's not the post office selling your address, it's the little guy in the back who is supplimenting his paycheck by selling a list with your name on it. Shady? Yes? But quiet common. We are now receiving these calls after c****ing our service over to AT&T, these same numbers have been with Verizon for over 12 years. Funny how it all works, but unless you are aware of what happens you can't stop it. So just don't pick it up. After about 3 months of having your number on a B list, and no one answers, your calls should slow to a trickle or completely stop. They will keep trying for about that long as your number goes through their system. Eventually the computer picks up that you don't answer and your name is swiped from it's list. Oh and a***n, just so you know, those lists are sold over and over a***n, when a telemarketing company purchases a list, they continue to sell the list to their set of partners until the computer wipes you off the list. A***n, it takes about 3 months.

Someone should trace this down and arrest these people for making unsolicited marketing calls. Put the Obama-lovers out of business.

I answered, it was a recorded message about insurance rate increases in NC. It's a survey of some sort. If you choose option "9" they're supposed to take you off their call list.

Called my cell today. I ignored it and no message was left. Appears Verizon never fixed this, if, indeed, they even knew about it or planned to do anyhting about it. Who IS this?
