I like Sarah's approach too but sometimes take it further. Today I got the typical credit card services scam call. put her on speaker so I could keep working and gave her made up information. After 7 minutes (and two tries to access the made up card number) she caught on and politely disconnected ("thanks and have a nice day"). the only thing you can do to them is take up their time. If you keep them on the line for 7 minutes, that's 7 minutes worth of scamming you saved someone else. Pay it forward.

Robo call. Sounds like fax ma****e on other end. No human and no message. Called number back and recording states that I have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service.

Credit Card offer to lower interest rates. Numbers are disconnected. They are a SCAM. Scam is to get the Zip Code first and then say that they need to verify that one account is in good standing with a balance of $4k or more. The then ask for the card number and / or the expiration date. Finally they ask for the card number. Most of the time they will ask for the last four numbers of your Social Security number. Then they put you on hold and check the card using the phone number on the back of the card. I wasted about 15 minutes of their time giving a card that had been replaced. Gave fake zip code and etc. Waste their time if you like however don't give them a real working card number. Also the following numbers should be consider as FRAUD. 626-338-8932, 701-393-5811, 216-278-0121, 360-322-6663, 310-599-9201, 218-573-6958, 731-548-7024, 727-216-9840, 229-227-9632, 406-832-5847, 531-748-7024, 615-000-7664, 401-515-4756, 850-237-4859, 407-692-2286, 860-822-7440, 731-498-4058, 517-705-1117, 302-234-8558, 281-825-4439, 765-998-4712, 416-364-1111, 631-665-8769, 503-543-5471, 731-203-5870, 406-980-2030, 620-504-7452, 860-949-6352, 703-468-4703, 203-244-7440, 701-771-9654, 337-220-9635, 256-526-9650, 726-901-8575, 763-428-4712, 601-907-8542, 501-433-8509, 202-509-5548, 207-246-8509, 304-287-4841, 303-490-7410, 678-864-7418, 916-555-0077, 765-525-9654, 813 444-5700, 207-829-6517, 301-577-6523, 256-526-9650, 337-220-9635, 203-244-7740, 701-771-9654, 620-504-7452, 703-468-4703, 860-949-6352, 908-395-8442, 404-900-5101, 305-368-8209, 726-901-8575, 601-907-8542, 207-829-6517, 301-577-6523, 256-526-9650, 337-220-9635, 203-244-7740, 701-771-9654, 620-504-7452, 703-468-4703, 860-949-6352, 908-395-8442, 406-936-5472 I'm sure this is only a partial list of the numbers used by these scamers. I agree with Sarah's approach. For unknown numbers I answer it but don't say anything. On the 1% chance it really is someone and not a robo call they'll say so****ing. Dead silence when I did it for this number. Number moved to my blocked list.
(701) 393-5811 - April 4th, 2014 6:20pm
These kind of calls usually originate as "robo calls", if you see a number you do not recognize, answer it but do not make a sound. This freaks out the trigger that begins the computer generated outgoing message and it just sits there waiting to play its pitch. This may not help you get rid of the calls to your own phone, but it ties up that one line so it can not be used to make the next annoying call. If each of us did this on each robo call, the system would eventually collapse. -no contact with consumer, no possibility of sales. no available phone lines to call us, no possibility of sales.

I've lost all faith in the DO NOT CALL LIST and I've decided to take action on my own. Here are my steps: 1. While the recording is playing I evacuate all animals and small children from the room. 2 When a representative comes on the line I immediately **** a referee's whistle into the phone. (Since they don't hear me when I say "DO NOT CALL" i'll do my best to deafen at least one ear even if it's only temporary) 3. I place them on my phone's contact list as "Another F***ing Credit card Scam. My voice announcer will announce them thusly 4. With my personal checklist complete I file a complaint on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY Read more at http://www.callercenter.com/701-393-5811.html#fJstw0I7WDg5hodu.99

The scam is from "Cardmember Services" I've lost all faith in the DO NOT CALL LIST and I've decided to take action on my own. I press 1 and when a representative answers I **** a basketball whistle into the phone as hard as I can. Fortunately the illegal recorded announcement gives me time to evacuate my cats from the room where I **** the whistle.
