I have gotten to the place where if I don't know the number, I just don't answer. Looks like somehow my number is on a spam list. . .

I've gotten where I will answer but not say anything. If it's a remotely legitimate call they will say so****ing first. I've heard about a scam where they get you to say yes to your name and **** up ("is this John Smith?" you say "Yes") - all they want is your voice saying yes so they can apply for credit and other stuff.

I don't know why they are ****ing up when others answer although I understand why they might not want to leave voicemail (but a reputable business should to help us understand the call). I had an insurance related car rental and they wanted to "ask a few questions". I had had trouble with a car and had just gotten another one plus my usage was still ongoing so I didn't feel comfortable answering questions yet. It is interesting that this is the first time for this that I know of - like the fact that it was insurance related versus personal rental made a difference(?) but from these comments - that's probably not the case. My problem with it is - what if it isn't Enterprise? How do I know? I guess ask them questions first. The woman talked so fast I didn't get especially her last name. Phone calls can be terrible hearing-wise on the mobile phones... and with the earbuds....
