Clearly a phishing attempt, as the return email is a gmail account, but as I do have a PayPal account it was helpful to see others here had the same experience.

Say's that my purchase of $499.99 worth of bitcoin was completed. "Don't reply to this email call the phone number only". Very obvious it was a scam. Plus the email came from "[email protected]", but claimed to be PayPal. Maybe use a better email if you're going to impersonate a company.
