Very likely phishing attempt. Do not engage. Claiming to want to try out a new business product "with you guys". Names a couple of company names that I am affiliated with or was, but only two have Amex cards, others not. Did not have clear info and could not provide verifying information upon request.

I agree with most of the post but one. Don't confirm anything!! This is a scam. My husband canceled his American Express account over 5 years ago Now all of a sudden there is a problem!! This bill has been paid 5 years ago. Don't answer 623-492-2073 or 602-537-9012... all scam folks!!

One of my****ociates received a call from this number over the weekend.  It was from a woman, Barb from American Express looking for me at someone elses home number (not good).  Please check into this.

I received 4 calls from this number yes****ay, Apr. 5, s****ing at 8:38 a.m. and ending 6:15 p.m. Caller ID displays two numbers: 602-537-9012 and 623-492-6031. I don't answer, and no message is left. I checked my American Express account on their website, and nothing is amiss. It seems unprofessional for a company as big as AmEx to call and not leave a message...I would guess it to be a phishing venture or telemarketer.

Caller ID shows two numbers: 623-492-6031 and 602-537-9012.  They call about once a day at 8 AM every morning.  They leave a message and indicate that there is an urgent problem with my American Express card and to call a 800 number to rectify the problem.  I have an Amex account, but the phone number they call is in no way****ociated with my credit accounts.  Total scam.

Just received a call from this number as well as 623-492-6031.  They were saying they needed to talk to my husband about an american express card.  Researched and found out just another group of scam artists.

Got the call at 8:30PM.  Recorded message about your American Express account.  Then no sounds.

I received a call from this number and the man on the phone was asking for my wife, because "there was a problem with her AMEX account." I told him that she was not available to take the call, and he asked me if I was her husband and was very quick to ask if I wanted to make a payment over the phone to take care of the problem. We never give any information over the phone to anyone who calls us. Be careful, you never know who is calling

I received a call at 8am this morning (12/26/08) and did not answer as I did not recognize the number.  After looking on this site, I don't know why I received a call as I do not have an Amex card, never have had an Amex card.  The call went through to voicemail and there was a male voice saying "Hello?" repeatedly, then ***g up.  There were 2 numbers on my caller ID: 602-537-9012 and 623-492-6031.  So far, have only received one call from this number.

My caller ID is showing the two numbers 602-537-9012 and 623-492-6031 but it is a fax ma****e.  I have another number for fax so ma****e does not print the fax.  I just wish they would go away....they call daily FIVE times a day.

I keep getting calls from "American Express" about an urgent matter and to please have my account number handy when I call back.  I checked on line and my accoutn is fine.  The number came up with two numbers on caller id: 602-537-9012 and 623-492-6031.  I'm sure it is a scam!  Beware!!!!

I got a call and they talked about fraud charges on my Amex.  Then they said I needed a new card and s****ed asking for sensitive info.  I was leery of the caller so I ***g up and I called Amex myself to confirm that it was actually them calling me.  I thought it was a scam but to my surprise IT ACTUALLY WAS AMEX.  To be safe however, if anyone reading this EVER gets a call from someone and they s**** asking for your sensitive info, I would do the same thing.  Respectfully decline to give the info and then YOU call the credit card company yourself.  That way there is no chance of anyone else getting your sensitive information and being a victim of ID theft.

I picked up and it was indeed AMEX. They were calling to verify a transaction. They never asked for me to answer anything they knew I made a $30.12 charge online that was declined (for security) and was calling to confirm that I was aware of the Transaction. I said yes and that was it. They knew my name and if it was a scan how would they know my name, charged amount, denied Merchant, etc...A***n the only thing I had to say was "YES"

Called once and ***g up. Garbage.

I guess these scammers are still at it! I just received a call and also didnt answer because it showed up with those same 2 numbers on my caller ID. My answering ma****e picked up after 6 rings and they ***g up immediately!

Didn't answer because 2 phone numbers showing on ID.  This is a business line and we fequently get unknown calls that **** up when we answer so have tendency not to answer when numbers look odd.

Received message on answering ma****e for business line.  Message says to call back on 800-824-9289 in an automated message. More stuff.  Then it says you can always access your account using the 800 number on the back of the card.  That is what I did.  It alerted American Express and flagged my account with the numbers they called from.  American Express said they have thousands of reports like this.  Working to shut these people down

Caller said wanted to ask about issues with account but wasn't able to give correct name.

I got the same call from them also today.  They called while I was at work and tried to talk to the answring ma****e. The whole thing was done by a recording and they said that they want to talk to me about my small business account with them.  I do have a credit card and it's  personal account not a small business account but anytime they call it never shows up on my caller ID with 2 different numbers from P***nix. Both the 602-537-9012 and 623-492-6031 are Central and West Valley numbers, how ****** do they think we are?

Just got the same scam..  They only let the phone ring 4 times..   If you do not speak, they do not speak..  Interesting stuff..  Glad I researched the number..

This is just another number for the American Express scammers.  I filed a complaint, so they used another number but both came up on my caller id.  They first called on 6234926031.  This is a bunch of foreigners who can barely speak English.  They are trying to steal American Express numbers.

This is american Express...problem with your account etc.  Please call 18889192135.  Caller ID showed 2 numbers 6025379012 and 6234926031
