Caller Id shows BOOK SPAN. They called to say they are from the book club I belong to and they have a special offer for 3 free books. All I need to do is pay shipping & handling. They didn't know what books I previously ordered and didn't offer any suggestions. This appears to be a scam to obtain my credit card number and code. They will call back 11/30/10 and I will record their conversation and report them after I tell them that I'm recording the conversation. Googling BOOK SPAN brought up the following from Answers.com:Bookspan is a direct marketer of books, operating book clubs under such familiar names as the Book-of-the-Month Club, Doubleday Book Club, and The Literary Guild. The company operates about 20 clubs that offer bestsellers and feature ***les from specific genres, including history, military, mystery, and science fiction. Some kids book club with caller ID D'Field. A male asked for my wife by name. I told them they called my cell phone and they repeated the phone number they dialed was my home number. I don't know how they got my cell number. They said they would call back later at the home number so that I would not be bothered on my cell phone. I have a feature on my home phone to selective call forwarding so I put any call from this number would be forwarded back to the same number so they will call themselves, HAHAHA.

Tried to offer me a "sales pitch" that was too good to be true. I had to decline 4 times before he finally accepted I wasn't going to buy into it. Ridiculous! I am also on the DO NOT CALL LIST! Second time, I could tell the phone line was "live", but the second I said*****o, a recording s****ed. I'd been napping, so wasn't able to recall the recording. We're on the do not call list, so I'm checking to see if maybe they'll contribute to our checking account!!

They are either very inept telemarketers or phishing.
