I just called 517-332-1500 and spoke to a very nice man who offered (even before I asked) to take me off their phone list. He explained that the reason they don't leave messages is that they are exclusively an outbound call center, and there is no one to take inbound calls. My advice is to call 517-332-1500 and ask to be taken off the list. And yes, my local PBS station is on the DEI list. You can be sure I'm going to have it out with them about that.

I just left a message at this number, instructing them to stop making annoying calls where the caller doesn't leave a message, and that if PBS is one of the non-profits they fund raise for, I will CANCEL my subscription to PBS if I get any more phone calls from this number. Now let's see what happens...
(517) 203-1400 - May 24th, 2010 4:00am
I am going to call them right now. Actually, I signed up to be on the govt. do-not-call list, but don't appear to be. If this company works for PBS, I will also cancel my subscribtion to PBS. That should send a clear message not to have annoying callers not even leave messages.
(517) 203-1400 - March 30th, 2010 4:00am
I have received several phone calls daily for approx. 2 weeks. The phone calls are made at various times of the day and evening. The caller has never left a message for me. How can I remove my phone number from this data base?
(517) 203-1400 - March 11th, 2010 3:15am
If you don't answer, they keep calling. If you call the number back, there is a pre-recorded message that states that because of the nature of their call they are exempt from the "do not call"rules.
(517) 203-1400 - May 20th, 2010 8:50pm
Makes repeated calls and ****s up when answering ma****e answers the phone. Never leaves a message so it can't be that important.

they just keep calling every day... no voicemail
(517) 203-1400 - July 22nd, 2009 4:00am
After several calls from this number, many of them abandoned (due, no doubt, to setting their predictive dialer too aggressively) I finally answered a call which had a live rep on the other end. She mispronounced my name, first, and out of irritation, I ask "WHY?" she wanted to talk with me. She ***g up. The second time I was reached by a live rep, this character treated me like we were old friends, and went on-and-on about how much he appreciated my support, then immediately segueing into how important it was to continue my support at the $250 to $120/year level (first of all, having done this sort of work, you don't do your first ask with an immediate drop, if you want the big bucks). When I said that we're not in a position to donate right now, his next proposal was to "put me down for the standard ******sic membership...this way, we'll take you off the calling list." "Well," I said, "that's not the only way I can get off this list. I can simply tell you not to call me any more, can't I?"He agreed."Let's do that..." I said. We'll see if they call a***n.
(517) 203-1400 - March 5th, 2009 9:16pm

I emailed several web sites that have blogs that are pretty negative towards this company and the constant relentless calls. This was the response of the owner. Clearly, she doesn't care that people are irritated. She out to make some money. Good luck everyone. Since I have been on the no call list for many years, I wondered where they were getting my number to harrass me like this. I donated money to PBS/WOSU, Columbus, Ohio. They seem to be pretty free about giving out the telephone numbers. I too will be reluctant to donate in the future. While I love PBS broadcasting, I would expect they would show me more respect that this. Live and Learn. GET ON THE NO CALL LIST.*****************************************************A***n I thank you for your feedback. I am guessing that your experiecne with telemarketing fundrasing is only from the end of a****ential donor. You probably know very little about the industry, the equipment it uses and how it conducts its business. I also****ume that you have very little interest in understanding it from the business's perspective so I will not go into any rationales on why we continue to be hired to do fundraising and why it is so effective. I get that you don't like telemarketing. Fine. We will not call you. We do not call anyone who asks us not to call them. That has been our policy since this comapny was founded in 1983. I am proud of my company and the work we do. We have raised ***dreds of millions of dollars for legi***mate non-profit organizations that would not have been able to receive that money any other way. Usually we are asked to call when donors have not responded to mail requests or other ****ods of solicitating donations. Many times we are the last resort. Without us, non-profits would either have their services to the public greatly diminished or have closed their doors. You and many others do not like telemarketing. Fine. Register not to be called, tell those that call you legally that you don't want to be called and move on. I have acted on your request not to be called. I'm not sure what else you really expect me to do. I'm not going to cease all telemarketing efforts and close my company becuase you don't like i**** provides an important contribution to our society and many people do not feel the way you do. If everyone hated it as much as you, it would not be as effective, we would not be hired and we would go out of business. I think our longevity speaks to the quality of our work and its necessity.I have heard your feedback, concerns and complaints. I can tell we feel very differently about this. And that is ok. At this point I think we should agree to disagree and move on. I plan on this being my final communication to you. Respectfully,Sarah ShawPresidentPhone Bank Systems, [email protected]
(517) 203-1400 - February 21st, 2008 5:00am
I recently s****ed receiving these same calls. I am on the national No Call list too. I contacted Ms. Shaw and this was the response i received. i would suggest that everyone that continues to get these calls, email Ms. Shaw. My guess is, if she receives enough bad emails, she will put a stop to these calls for fear of legal actions a***nst her and her company. I have not had one call today. Good luck********Thank you for contacting Phone Bank Systems, Inc..We are a telemarketing firm that provides fundraising services to non-profit organizations. We would have been attempting to contact you on behalf of such an organization in your area that provided your information to us. Our dialing system always trys to send calls where people have answered to our operators. Unfortunately, sometimes more people than usual answer their phone at the same time and some calls must be abandoned. That is unfortunately what you have experienced. I understand that you do not wish to be contacted a***n. I would be happy to honor that request, as we always have, but am unable to as you have not provided me with the phone number you wish we were not calling. Once you provide the phone number that you do not want us to call it may take up to 2 business days to insure that it has been completely removed from our calling files. That phone number will then be placed on our internal Do Not Call list and you will not be contacted a***n by our company. If you have any additional concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.Sincerely,Sarah ShawPresidentPhone Bank Systems, [email protected]
(517) 203-1400 - February 21st, 2008 5:00am
I emailed as well and got the same repsonse. I actually did answer the number one last time yes****ay and got one of the pushiest telemarketers I have ever encountered telling me my public television membership expired and demanded to know how much I would give as a renewal. So, I emailed the public television station and complained to them as well (and told them I was seriously considering NOT donating anymore after the treatment I received from their telemarketers). They have taken me off their list and the public TV station has contacted the Phone Bank Systems president as well. Please, everyone, keep sending emails and make sure to find out who they are calling for and complain to the non-profit as well. This is the only way to stop this!
(517) 203-1400 - February 20th, 2008 5:00am
I have been getting calls from this number for the past several weeks. I am handicapped so it is really irritating to get up to answer the phone, only to have either no one there or have them **** up on me. I sent Sara Shaw an email and told her to stop or I was going to report them to the phone company as a nuisance call. I added a few other phrases I will not repeat that will definitely make them see I mean business. These people are idiots.
(517) 203-1400 - February 20th, 2008 5:00am
Thanks to w***ver submitted the emails. I have asked them to take my phone number off their lists and to confirm to me they have done so otherwise I will report their practices to the Better Business Bureau and to the State of Michigan Attorney Generals' office. What they are doing is a form of harrassment and definitely bad business practices. I get calls from them almost daily and sometimes at 2-3 times in one day. And like others, no one ever answers.
(517) 203-1400 - May 3rd, 2008 4:00am
Just today, Sa****ay, May 1st, I have received 6 phone calls from Phone Bank System. And this has been a daily occurance for the past month - this year alone. I would gladly have my gas and electricity turned off before discountinuing my $10 a month caller ID. You would think that after 50 or 60 calls to my home phone they would get that I am not picking up.
(517) 203-1400 - May 9th, 2008 12:30pm
This is a company with the national fundraising contract for PBS (Public Broadcasting System) stations. If you gave to your local PBS then your name and phone number got passed on to this org and they are calling to get more money from you. Tell them to STOP calling and let them know if your number is on the national DO NOT CALL list.

Got a phone call from Phone Bank Systems this morning. They've called MANY times in past. Today I answered. The guy was polite enough until I politely said "We're not interested. Would y...". He then cut me off, saying he wasn't a "god ****ed secretary".

There is the website to that annoying company. I also e-mailed them about their daily calls to complain and filed a complaint with the Do Not Call registry. We have been on the list since it s****ed. Bug them back! http://www.phonebanks.com/

We are tired of the constant phone calls. What ever happened to the NO CALL LIST?! Charities or not I shouldn't need to hear my phone ringing for contributions or any other unwanted calls to my home!

This Phone Bank System no. calls our house 6 times at least a day. There is no one on the line, automated or otherwise and you can't call back. How do we make these calls STOP.

(517) 203-1400 - December 3rd, 2007 5:00am
It's extremely annoying when I get a call from this company because, when they call me, I am more than likely eating or wat****g TV. The **** phone rings in the middle of a program I am intently wat****g, my answering ma****e picks up, and they **** up. This leaves my answering ma****e to continue on answering the call. After the beep, all I hear is the monotonous dial tone. My ma****e continues recording the dial tone, and the voice that says, "Please **** up and try your call a***n. If you need****istance, dial your operator. Please **** up now... This is a recording," unless I get up, pick up the phone and **** it up.
(517) 203-1400 - November 30th, 2007 5:00am
Send them as many emails as you can. The other thing you can do is when they call pick up the phone and just push the numbers on your phone pad. Sometimes this works as their computer cannot tell the difference between a phone and a fax so it will take your number off of the call list thinking it is a fax.
