The national pandemic of telephone terrorism perpetrated by desperate criminal collection agencies is because they are trying to terrorize people who are naive enough to answer and submit to unsolicited telephone calls or written "collection" letters that have no legitimate legal debt****ociated with them or any of the companies, universities, or whomever else they claim to represent. Because most "little guys" were bankrupted by the criminal Wall St/Congress/Big Oil/Big Business/Military robber barrons, so the desperate collection agencies are attempting to collect unpaid debts from innocent people by terrorizing them into submission.Word of advice. NEVER answer any calls you don't recognize or are not expecting. Use selective call rejection service if available, or switch to an Internet-based telephone service which provides comprehensive call rejection options. If rogue calls become chronic, turn off all the ringers on all of your phones except one, and set its volume to the minimum setting. If you don't answer the call and the caller is legitimate, they will usually leave a voicemail after the first or second try. Rogue callers never leave voicemail messages because that could be used as evidence a***nst them if it came to a lawsuit. If you receive a rogue letter in the mail warning you of some "collection" action a***nst you, if you don't actually owe it, reply with a short letter stating that you don't owe it, you've never done any business with them of any kind, and you expect the collection agency to close the matter, stop harrassing you and take any bad credit marks they've caused off of your credit rating, and furthermore, that any further contact from them must be in writing and signed on their official business correspondence letterhead. Send your letter to them a.s.a.p., always within thirty days, first class certified mail return receipt requested. If they refuse it and you get the letter back unopened, leave it unopened and save it in your files as evidence a***nst them should they pursue legal action a***nst you. If they did receive it and continue to pursue action a***nst you, let them. The judge will throw it out of court. Warn all your friends about this rash of desperate collection agency terrorism, and how to combat it.Above all, keep a record of everything, of every rogue call w/ caller ID information displayed including time and day of each call. Maintain a complete file on any snail-mailed intimidation from rogue collection agencies, including copies of all correspondences and postal receipts.--S**** Here:http://www.privacyrights.org/fs/fs27-debtcoll.htmhttp://www.ehow.com/way_5849463_do-up-certified-dispute-letter.htmlhttp://hubpages.com/hub/How-to-Defeat-a-Collection-Agencyhttp://hubpages.com/hub/Battling-Consumer-Debt-Collectors-Part-2-I-Do-Not-Owe-This-Debthttp://hubpages.com/hub/Sample-letters-for-disputes-to-creditors--collectors-and-credit-bureaushttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FDCPAhttp://www.fair-debt-collection.com/statue-limitations.htmlCredit Report:https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jspUSPS:http://www.usps.com/send/waystosendmail/extra ... mailservice.htmhttp://www.usps.com/send/waystosendmail/extra ... eiptservice.htmOther links:http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/personal/02/29 ... tors/index.htmlhttp://hubpages.com/hub/How-to-Defeat-a-Collection-Agencyhttp://clarkhoward.com/shownotes/category/12/103/358/http://clarkhoward.com/topics/drop_dead_letter.html--Information for filing complaints a***nst rogue telephone calls, telephone harrassment, false "bill collector" harrassment, etc.,in the United States and Ca***a:UNITED STATESUS National Do Not Call Registry, file complaint: https://www.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspxFederal Trade Commissionhttp://www.ftc.gov 1-877-382-4357File complaint online: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.govhttps://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=enthat is at www.ftc.govFederal Communications CommissionTelephone toll free: 1-888-225-5322http://www.fcc.gov/contacts.htmlFile complaint online: http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumers.htmlhttp://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htmFCC Abandoned Calls Complaint form:http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/1088D-R.pdfemail: [email protected] Business Bureau, Check out a Business, find owner, contact info; file a Complaint:http://www.bbb.org/us/INTERNET CRIME:File report for Internet Crime at:Internet Crime Complaint Centrehttp://www.ic3.gov/default.aspxCA***ARCMP Phone bustersTelephone toll free: 1-888-495-8501Mon-Fri 8:30-5:20 pm (Eastern Time)E-mail: [email protected] Website is at: http://www.phonebusters.com File complaint online: https://www.recol.ca/intro.aspx?lang=en(Register with a password and then can continually file complaints)Ca***a National Do Not Call Registry:Ca***ian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC)Telephone toll free to File A Complaint: 1-866-580-3625(to withdraw a complaint is 877-249-2782)CRTC online complaints form: https://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/pfplin-fccoin-engthat is at www.crtc.gc.caBetter Business Bureau, Check out a Business, find owner, contact info; file a Complaint:http://www.bbb.org/ca***a/

They called my home phone on 4/03/09 and ***g up. Called a***n on 4/05/09 and I answered but they ***g up a***n. I hate those computer dialers they use. Since the number is from Ca***a and I'm in California, USA not going to make a long distance call just to tell them to put me on their DNC list. My number is on the Federal DNC list already but they're in Ca***a so it does not apply to them. I never parti****te in surveys so it's an annoyance. Maybe we should just s**** taking the calls and giving them false answers so the surveys will become useless to the corporations which pay to have them disturb us.
(514) 288-0420 - December 4th, 2009 5:00am
@M Power: The DO NOT CALL LIST is for telemarketers, not MARKET RESEARCHERS. The people who call you from 514-288-0420 are MARKET RESEARCHERS. There is no DO NOT CALL LIST for MARKET RESEARCHERS. They are allowed to call anyone in Ca***a from 9AM to 9PM. It is not a telemarketing office. It is a Market Research call center in downtown Montreal. The next time they call you, tell them to REMOVE YOUR NUMBER FROM THE LIST and DO NOT CALL A***N.
(514) 288-0420 - September 12th, 2009 4:26pm
Called them back and got a recorded French/Englis message. They appear to be a "Survey" type of company. If you answer and wait a minute, someone will come on the line and give you a spiel about asking for your opinion on things. (Radio, politics, TV etc). You have to give them a moment or two for the auto-dialer to connect to a live person. After that you can tell them to take you off their calling list.
(514) 288-0420 - December 3rd, 2009 5:00am
It is a Market Research company which conducts surveys over the phone. Market Research firms are allowed to call anyone from 9AM to 9PM. This company calls fortune 500 companies/doctors/lawyers etc.. They only leave messages for business calling. Some businesses, depending on the study, have the opportunity to call back at a 1-800 number to do the survey. They do not leave messages for households.
(514) 288-0420 - June 7th, 2009 4:00am
Got calls several times a day. It's annoying. Finally, I found this page http://ww****inionsearch.com/en/about/?page=contactus and called them with their 800 number. Someone picked it up and I requested her to remove me from the list. She said no problem.Let's see. If they don't do what they are supposed to do, I'll call their 800 number the whole bunch of time.
(514) 288-0420 - January 31st, 2009 2:07pm
The caller phoned twice this morn. The second time upon answering (didn't recognise the phone number), the caller identified themselves when asked, as "GLoria White" but didn't say on whose behalf she was calling. No one in our household knows anyone named Gloria White - especially in Montreal.
(514) 288-0420 - January 11th, 2009 5:00am
I called this phone number back after not answering it for fear that it was a telemarketer. The recording says that this number belongs to a Survey Company, and they were calling to ask if I would take part in a survey.

Inquiring about banking adverti*****ts and banking loyalty. Could hear background noise from call center. Caller had French accent. Did some Googling on market researchers in Quebec and I suspect the number belongs to an IPSOS call center.
(514) 288-0420 - March 18th, 2009 6:50pm

*A GUIDE TO HANDLING OPINION SEARCH, HARRIS-DECIMA and DECIMA (CONTINUED)*1) IF YOU WANT TO BE TAKEN OFF OUR LISTS, call 514-288-0420 or 514-288-0199 or 1-800-288-0199. At all these numbers, ask the receptionist for a supervisor or press 7 and you will reach a supervisor or the supervisor voice mail. If you reach the supervisor voice mail, feel free to leave your phone number and say the words DO NOT CALL ME A***N. We will then proceed to remove you from our database. If you reach a live person, they will most definitely ask you for your phone number. They will not ask for your name or any other information. We need to know your phone number so that we can know which number to remove. Many of you refuse to give it to us. If you do not give it to us, you cannot be removed from our database. You will receive more annoying calls and it is frustrating for us to receive complaints and not be able to do anything about them. Help us help you.2) The difference between DECIMA, HARRIS-DECIMA and OPINION SEARCH:OPINION SEARCH is the call center. It is the company that does the surveys, the research.DECIMA is the actual research company. They get contracts from companies asking for market research. Then, DECIMA asks OPINION SEARCH to conduct the research.HARRIS-DECIMA is actually a partnership formed by Decima, one of Ca***a's major market research companies and Harris, one of US of A's major market research companies. Kind of like a North-American partnership.I would like to underline that Decima is one of Ca***a's major research companies. If you live in Montreal and read the Metro or le 24 Heures, you will sometimes see polls or research done by us. Open your eyes to what you see, read or hear. You will most definitely have a better understanding of society.3) THE PEOPLE OF OPINION SEARCH.So, Opinion Search is a call center where I believe more than 70% of Montreal's student population has worked at least once. It is the perfect student job because it offers very flexible hours and an hourly pay ranging from 9.25-11.50 per hour. Many Concordia, McGill, Dawson, Vanier and M*****opolis students pay their university, rent, food and entertainment with hours worked at Opinion Search. Some people work there part time for extra revenue. I like speaking with people who are not ignorant about society and how it works. For more information, there are adds in the Mirror or Hour pretty much every week. I am sure you or your kids know at least one person who works there since it is one of Montreal's major research call center after Ipsos and Leger-Marketing.4) It is a very interesting job, especially when people I call understand that I AM NOT LOOKING FOR THEIR PERSONAL INFORMATION, JUST THEIR VIEWS. WE ARE NOT SELLING YOU ANYTHING. WE JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU THINK. REMEMBER THAT YOUR PARTI****TION IS VOLUNTARY. ***ODY WILL TWIST YOUR ARM TO ANSWER THE SURVEY. YOU CAN REFUSE, BUT DO IT NICELY AND CLEARLY SO THAT WE CAN ACTUALLY TAKE YOU OFF OUR LISTS AND NOT CALL YOU EVER A***N. WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS TOO. SO LET US HELP YOU.4) WHY YOU HEAR SOMEBODY **** UP ON YOU: At OSI, an interviewer's job is to complete surveys or log calls when there is an answering ma****e, when there is no answer or when somebody refuses. We are all human and some interviewers, mostly new ones, have yet to master the art of logging a call properly. It takes them a few days to get it, so please excuse them.5) If you have any more questions, feel free to call the company at 1-800-288-0199/514-288-0199/514-288-0420 or contact the CEO, Mr. Ed Hum at [email protected] can always visit the following websites and learn more about these companies. *A GUIDE TO HANDLING OPINION SEARCH, HARRIS-DECIMA and DECIMA*Let me tell you about Opinion Search Inc. or OSI. I am an Opinon Search/Decima/Harris-Decima employee at the Montreal office. I understand your frustration and complaints. I feel very bad when people are called numerous times, especially when they specified they did not want to be called ever a***n. I understand it is very disrespectful and downright annoying. This is usually due to the fact that some of our employees may not be doing their job properly logging calls or our computerized system is not working as it is supposed to.I am writing to maybe clear some misunderstandings concerning this company and this number.First of all, I will explain the difference between market research and telemarketing because they are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS. I am a university student so here is a personal market research definition, mostly inspired from my 2007 Ca***ian Edition of Philip Kotler's Principles of Marketing, a manual used in my Introduction to Marketing class at Concordia University.*Market research*: Companies often need formal studies of specific situations. For example, Toshiba wants to know how many and what kinds of people will buy its new portable PC or your bank wants to know how satisfied you are with their services and if they should really lower fees on certain accounts, or Tim Hortons wants to know if they should continue with the Roll-Up The Rim To Win Contest. Company managers cannot determine that by themselves. They need the population's help and to do that, they use marketing research. So basically, marketing research (surveying or focus groups) is the systematic design, collection, ****ysis and reporting of data relevant to a specific marketing situation facing an organization. Companies use market research for a wide variety of situations. It helps companies understand customer satisfaction and purchase behavior, it helps them determine prices, market****ential, the product, its distribution and its promotion activities. If any of you owns a business, you should understand this or else your business goes to*****.So, what we mainly do at Opinion Search is SURVEY RESEARCH, which is one of the many marketing research approaches. Survey research is the most widely used ****od for gathering descriptive information about the population sample surveyed. A company or a social or governmental organization that wants to know about people's knowledge, at***udes, preferences, or buying behavior can often find out by asking them directly through a telephone survey.Without your opinion, feedback and input, companies or the government will do as they please or will not know how to please you and you will continue to be disappointed and will continue to bathe in your ignorant bliss. As one famous interviewer once said: SURVEYS ARE LIKE VOTING, YOU ARE EITHER PART OF SOCIETY OR YOU ARE NOT.*Telemarketing*: Telemarketing is the act of selling, soliciting or promoting a product or service over the telephone. Some telemarketing companies are the real deal, some are scams. You just have to use your own judgements. Opinion Search is not trying to scam you or SELL YOU ANYTHING.

This is a joke isn't it? Calling the police about being woken up at night by the phone? Don't you think the police have better things to do then to deal with your insignificant annoyances while sleeping? Just turn off the ringer, or better yet, call the company and tell them to put you on their 'do not call list'. It's not hard. Oh and the reasons they keep calling are as follows:-you tell them you're busy then **** up (or tell them a phony time to call back)-You yell at them or are very rude (basically acting like a 9 year old). Handle the call like an adult and you'll be treated as such. If you are rude, it's more likely that they will call you back because you've hurt their feelings of they want some sort of revenge. It's not right, but they are people after all. Some you may like, some you may not. Bottom line, act like an adult and you will be respected like one.-you **** up while they are delivering their introduction. Some may just think they had a bad connection and will call you back later. Also, threats regarding the authorities do not affect the situation one bit. The company is legitamate. If you get called at late, it's by accident. If they do it once, foget about it. If they do it continuously, just contact the company. It's okay to take the first step. Call them up and handle the problem personally. The more professional you are, the better results you will recieve. We are all adults, right? For me, I will keep contributing my valued feedback to improve society by helping companies who offer products and services in my area, the muni****l, provincial and federal govenments, and to help those interviewers trying to make money to pay tuition (so they can finish school and become an even more productive member of society). Oh, and not to mention, recieve cash incentives from time to time for focus groups they invite me to (cash up front after the short focus group. Got 75 dollars for it)!In short: calm down, think rationally, deal with the problem head on,act like a mature adult, and work out a solution. Do those things and I'm sure if you handled it right, you will get the results you are looking for.Goodbye, and wishes for you all to work out your issues with this company and get what YOU want out of it! Don't give up until you get what YOU want!

*MORE ON HOW TO HANDLE OPINION SEARCH*I forgot to tell you.If you receive a call from OPINION SEARCH or any other market research company and it bothers you and you do not want to be called a***n, DO NOT SAY THAT YOU ARE BUSY!!! According to market research standards, when you say that you are busy, that is considered a CALLBACK and you WILL BE 100% CALLED BACK until you grow some ***** and say DO NOT CALL ME/THIS NUMBER A***N. Those are the magic words.------------------------------------------------------------------------I hope all this information helps everybody. And if you want to be really sure to not be called for surveys in the near future, phone your Internet company, your Cable company, the company you bought your TV and Kitchen appliances from, your Magazine subscription and tell them you do not want to take part in any research. Also, avoid entering your phone number on online contests or contests of any kind offered at grocery stores or department stores. Usually, ballots that are filled out for contests will eventually be part of a sample database. And trust me, you will be called at some point by either a market research company....or if you are unlucky, by a telemarketing company.Once a***n, inform yourself, if you do not want big bad corporate companies to invade your mind and household. As John Madison said,*Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.*

*THE OPINION SEARCH DO NOT CALL LIST REMOVAL*IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO HAVE YOUR SUPPER, ***, PARTY OR FAVORITE TV SHOW DISTURBED, GO HERE. ENTER YOUR PHONE NUMBER AND IF YOU WANT TO, YOUR RANT.http://ww****inionsearch.com/en/tools/donotcall/index.phpI hope this helps everybody. When I call you, I think about you. I really do. Sometimes, I feel horrible when I call moms about to c****e their crying babies. I immediately tell them I am sorry and that I sympathize and that I would rather call them at a more convenient time. Sometimes, I disturb family time. And yes I feel guilty. But that is my part-time job and I have hefty school fees to pay. Other times, I call really passionate people who really have interesting things to say about society, corporations and politics. It's always a pleasure doing a survey with them. Other times, I call lonely, old people and they do my survey. Then, I listen a bit to what they have to say. Usually, they are very glad somebody called them. And those are the best moments.

An employee for the company, hoping to offer some help. First, I apologize for the major complaint here... that is, ***ody on the line. For whatever reason, the company has chosen to use a very flawed automatic dialer for the work. This causes a lag between you answering and it being connected to an interviewer. Nothing we can do, but I'm sorry. If you don't want to be called anymore: the best thing to do, call the number back, ask for a supervisor and ask to be put on the Do Not Call list. If a phone interviewer speaks to you, ask to be put on the Do Not Call list. DO NOT say you are busy, DO NOT **** up. In that situation the interviewers are NOT ALLOWED to put your number on the DNC list. Just ask to be put on the list, and that's the end of it.

My suggestion is to keep a loud police whistle by your phone - whenever they call, wait until you get a live person on the phone and continuously **** the whistle until they **** up... I would also call them back at their numbers and see if you can get a live person and do the same thing. Any kind of loud horn will do. Can't think of anything for you cell phone people. It would look weird for other people to see you ****ing a foghorn or tuba into your cell phone They call my land line in *****chusetts.

SE You're right it is a choice. It is also my choice how I choose to deal with it. Ever try to contact these folks? I have. Email you send is filtered by spam blockers so they won't get it. If you call them and ask questions or to talk to Ed Hum they get annoyed.Since they don't reply to email try calling them. They are in the eastern time zone. This has an added plus, when you call it costs them money not you.1-800-363-4229 ext. 3006 Mr. Ed Humor try Shawn Gallman ext. 3026
