This number appeared on our bill numerous times, spent well over an hour with Rogers so called customer service and basically got told we made these calls while in Florida. We do not use the phone in Florida for calls just texts. They offered 50% off ! The point is how does this happen in the first place. No answer. And why would I pay for calls no one made from our phone. The fight begins. There was also a 30 min. call to another number ( a business ) The gentleman was away on a cruise !So****ing very wrong here. Beware and check your Rogers bill.

Who called me
(416) 822-1142 - March 31st, 2010 4:00am
This is a rogers marketing number. I called rogers pay as you go to complain to reverse the charges. She explained to me that voicemail works in that way(charge per use), but when i explained to her that the number was rogers marketing she had to go and talk to her supervisor. After 5 mins of waiting, sales lady came back online and said they are reversing all costs related to that number (416) 822-1142. This is the second time i had to do call support; i've given up on blocking the call, so i'm just taking off voice mail.... hope this helps.

416-822-1142 is the number displayed by Rogers on PayAsYouGo accounts for any incoming voicemail calls - whether the caller leaves a message or not (transaction history does not show the # of the incoming caller - need to cross reference the transaction history to your phone incoming call history/received calls). If the caller does not leave a voicemail message (ie. a telemarketer or a wrong number dialed) it still registers as a call & subsequent 25 cent charge. As long as your voicemail system answers the caller (ie. caller hears it's a voicemail & not a real person) there is a charge. So, if your VM is set-up or not it doesn't matter ! The telephone system (aka a computer) can't determine if an incoming call is legitimate or not. It happens to me and I don't like it either, but at least someone at Rogers could explain it to me !Cheers. PS - trust me, Bell is no better ! (Bell & Rogers own all the cell service offered - is that called a twin-opoly ? Very Ca***ian)

The same thing happened to me as well as my mother and after closly looking over both our transaction records, i concluded why these charges happen. Neither myself or my mom have set up voice mail however we both have it set to active on our pay asgo accounts. So when someone calls your phone and you dont answer it, rogers still charges you for one minute of time. This is ****** seeing as you just havnt gottin around to setting up your voice mail. They should have mentioned it at activation really.

This number (416) 822-1142 is a Rogers number (this is what they just told me) Rogers charges $0.25 everytime someone accesses your voice mail message regardless of if they leave you a message. A bu***hit charge that you have no control over. The only way to stop it is to cancel voice mail. I did that and they refunded me after much hassle.

I activated my old cell number as Rogers pay as you go phone with Voice Mail.Within hours I get 4 calls - 416-822-1142 was the number shown on the transaction history. However, 494-515-0035 was one of 2 numbers shown on the call (we never got calls before!). I don't know the originating number for the other call as it was not picked up and the missed call log was erased.I called Rogers and got the charges reversed.(Although this was more likely since the automatic dialer for voicemail was dialing long distance to pick up these spam messages!)The 416-822-1142 number is likely only used to relay calls.

I just got a new Rogers phone less than 2 weeks ago. My balance kept going down and I had no idea why until I set up an online account and saw that I had received 11 voicemail messages from this number. I don't even have my voicemail set up so I had no idea people could even leave me a message. On my phone my voicemail has always said 0 messages. It makes me think that Rogers is behind it. Wish I stayed with my other phone company.

Received voicemail charges a***nst this number, through September 08 after c****ing my Rogers wireless number to 705 area code. When called there is no answer... rings for 45 seconds then turns to busy signal. I have not activated my new voicemail but was charged by Rogers for 13 voicemails from this number. When my number is called voicemail does not accept messages because it has not been activated by me. Awaiting explanation from Rogers.
