This is one of several numbers that have come up on my caller ID, which have come from American Express. They keep calling to collect a debt I do not owe on a "blue card," which I do not have. I contacted the American Express number on the back of my Platinum card, and have complained several times. They have put notes all over the computer saying that I am not the person they are looking for, and have even called one of the numbers and told them this and have told them to stop calling me - and yet still the calls continue! This morning, they even called my cell phone! They do not seem to understand the concept of more than one person having the same name, and so they apparently contact everyone in the country who has the same name as the person they are looking for - and they don't stop calling - EVER!

Rcv'd tc from 336-393-7010 @ 0833 4/26/10 caller ID was American Express. Asking for Mark (blank) using our last name. I said no Mark here nor has there ever been. He said are you sure no Mark lives there. I said I think I know who lives here since we've lived here for 17 years and to please take our phone number off their call list. He said he would. I said "thank you". I doubt they will do it because we've gotten another call with American Express for a totally different number 954-503-1800 on 4/25/10 @ 0810 hours. So this is a scam.

I have been receiving calls from this number for MONTHS now, early early in the morning, and sometimes after 9pm in the evening.I know for a FACT this is a phishing scam. The premise is for you to call the number they give you to give your Amex number and a bunch of other personal info. The scamsters will then steal your personal info and commit fraud. ONLY IF YOU ARE AN IDIOT WILL YOU GIVE THESE SCAMMERS YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION!!

Not sure WHY American Express is calling my cell phone. I do not give the number out. I called it back on a land-line and got the message "Thank you for calling American Express. Please have your card number ready..." I ***g up. I have no reason to speak w/them - I don't even use the card.

Definitely American Express. I called the 800 number on the back of my card to verify that this number was indeed Amex, and the agent on the phone told me that there was a note on the account with the call logged from a few minutes prior and that there was no need for concern.

Missed call from this number. Called it back and supposedly it's American Express. However, I've never had an American Express card AND they prompt you to enter your AMEX card number...scary!!! Received a similar type of call from "American Express" from a different number today as well...be careful.

This number contacted me stating they were American Express with possible fraud occurring on my account. They did not provide me the last numbers on the credit card and requested my social security number. No fraud has occurred on my American Express card.

This is American Express, I called the number on the back of my card and found that fraud had occurred on my card. If you are not comfortable calling the number they give you, call the one from your AMEX card.

From one post on here, I now believe this was AMEX calling ME about my mother's past-due account, as his this is the second time they have called me on my cell. The first time I told them SPECIFICALLY not to call me a***n about someonelse's account.She was over to my house for a week after heart surgery and had called their 800# from my cell phone to stop activity/close her AMEX cards. She's 74, was swindled my my sister who ran up her AMEX's and obtained about 16 other c/cards and now needs to file bankruptcy.Now they are calling ME about her account since she merely called their 800#. I didn't catch the mistake in time.A BIG FYI:DO NOT CALL 800#'s for past-due creditors, or anyone else you don't want to have your #. Even if you hide your caller ID, because of the toll-free billing, their toll-free system will still capture your number you call from and x-reference it to the account # being called about and place it on file. Then they WILL be calling that number to get a hold of you when that account is past-due.Call them from payphones.

This number should be investigated, They keep calling our home number for a person who has not lived at this address for over 10 years. After several phone calls from people who could or could not speak English I became quite excited. Told them this was a scam and I would not give any information. Then the calls finally seemed to stop. If it is American Express then I now understand why so many businesses refuse to accept their card. This is harassment especially when they hound you all hours of the day and night after being told no person by that name lives here. Enough to discourage me from ever getting an American Express Card.

i was called by individual,claiming he was from american express, and wanted to verify my account number, which i refused , i did call american express to find out what was going on. they claim no one from american express does that. we have reason to belive that people at that number are conducting criminal activity, id theft from that number, just dial that number and you will hear [ input your account number for verification and wait ,a man will come and request your account number. you should alert the fraud police of that activity, thanks r guerra lacey wa,miesau_22***ahoo.com

We have received many calls since April 1 from this number purporting to be American Express. We do not have an American Express card. We have called American Express directly (who confirm we do not have an account) and tried to get the calls stopped without success. We have since filed a police report, filed complaints with the NY and VA Attorney General, and written a demand letter to the legal department of American Express. Our next step is to bring a lawsuit for harrasment - these calls violate several Fair Debt Collection Practices Act provisions.

I returned a missed call to this number. They identified themselves as being AMEX account services, but after giving them my AMEX number, I immediately felt ******, and refused to give them any additional personal information. I immediately ***g up, and called AMEX directly, using the number on the back of my card, and account services could not see any attempt or reason as to why anyone from AMEX would have called me today. I had my card# c****ed, and canceled the old card, I believe this was an attempt to scam me. BE WARNED.

It's American Express, however it should be called Indian Express. The person called in reference to my AMEX account, but could just barely speak ENGLISH, and great difficulty reading the AMEX prepared script. I told them about 30 times that I don't want to be ignorant, but I can not understand anything they were saying. She just kept trying to read the script over top of what I was saying. Correct, it was American Express calling. They called to verify a transaction that was flagged as 'potential fraud' (I booked flight tickets late last night).Wow! That is a great service. Thank you Amex, I feel that my account is protected and in good hands with you.

I suspect a credit card company. Other sites show this number very recently with no explanation of who it is. I answered and the person said they were "Jessie" but did not say what company. Told them wrong number and ***g up.
