Here's a list of the numbers in addition to the one here that I have been receiving calls from over the last several days....330-259-1072, 518-615-0667, 609-674-9135, 410-713-4798, 732-791-2430. Same song, different vesre for all of them. I don't answer, they leave a message saying so****ing to the effect that they are calling about an "urgent matter" or so****ing of the sort. They leave various 866 numbers for me to return their call. (*** CHANCE) No name given, no company name given and they don't ask for a specific person. My husband and I have a spotless credit record so I know the calls cannot be for us.My daughter has had some problems, but has taken care of them. We pulled her credit report yes****ay and everything has been resolved with the exception of two companies she is still paying and in good standing with. My guess is that this is definately a scam. Knowing that a lot of people owe money...they randomly call numbers and try to make it sound "official" and dupe people for informantion and/or money. Unfortunately there are a lot of uninformed people out there that will take there bait! I'm in the Denver area. They probably will stop after they have run through all their Denver numbers and prey on some other state. Amazingly, if you do an area code search all of these numbers come from different states, except two are from New Jersey. This appears to be a pretty big operation....I even read a post about it being some crime family from NY! I usually just ignore the calls, or if the ringing bothers me...pick up and immediately **** up. If it continues, I'll report to the states attorney. One web search I did came up with Global Credit and Collection in Ca***a and NY. Go figure!

These spam, or phishing, calls are getting really annoying!!! A REAL, honest to goodness business would identify the company and the person calling, and ask for a specific person, but these do none of that, and even tell the whopping lie that due to congress they can no longer give any details over the phone! It's all a lie! They are wanting you to take the bait and talk to them and then they will ask for your SS#, checking account or credit card # and your iden***y is GONE! This morning I got the first of the calls from this #, but it's just the 4th or 5th # in recent weeks.

Tau, I appreciate the info - it's all good to know, however I believe a huge percentage of these are phishing scams. A real, honest to goodness collections attempt would identify the business name, the persons name and ask to speak to the debtor. Most of the ones I am getting (and there are a lot) don't do any of that, they just use buzzwords hoping you will answer or contact them so they can get your personal info and steal your money or iden***y. Everyone should just ignore these calls and hope they will go away!

They are a collection agency, the kind that buys debt that's already been charged off by the original debtor. So whatever they collect over and above what they paid, from whomever it is they are trying to reach, is profit to them - and apparently what drives their harassing tactics. Unfortunatley for them, my work phone is part of a call center - so they cannot get through with a "press 1 to speak to a representative ..." recording on an autocall device.

We Market Llc611 N Wymore Rd Winter Park, FL 32789 Debt collection vultures. Their tactic is intimidation/confusion. Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, a collector must send a 5-day letter stating what the debt is, why it's owed and how much they believe you owe. The recipient then has 30 days to respond by either contesting it in writing or making payment arrangements. There's a lot of intimidation in this industry because most people don't know their rights and responsibilities. Is a collection agency allowed to repeatedly berate you over the phone? No, it's your right to instruct them in writing not to call you a***n if they're abusive. Here is a sample of a "Drop Dead Letter" you can copy and paste to mail to them:(I recommend sending this as certified mail)(Date) To Whom It May Concern: I have been contacted by your company about a debt you allege I owe. I am instructing you not to contact me further in connection with this debt. Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, a federal law, you may not contact me further once I have notified you not to do so. Sincerely, (Name) (Account No.if you know what is) The sole exception here is if the collector works in a bank that's trying to collect on its own accounts. They can't be made to stop calling. You may want to use an answering ma****e to record your phone calls with collectors. Many states require that you disclose that you're recording. Most collectors who sense they're dealing with somebody who knows their rights will not push it. They're just after money, not a court battle. Here's another tip: Never give them your checking account number if you want to pay. You may verbally agree on partial payment to settle a debt, and they'll turn around and take extra from your account. Get it in writing first. If you really suspect their honesty, pay by money order or use a separate checking account to settle up. One final note: Under the statute of limitations, you have a right not to pay old debt once it exceeds a certain time limit. What that limit is varies by both state and the type of debt. However, if you get hit with a lawsuit over an old debt, you must show up at court and declare the debt past the statute of limitations -- or you'll be hit with a default judgment. Then you'll owe money that legally you had no right to be sued over.

It says it is a non-complaince call. What is up with that? Then, it says to press 1 to hear the rest of the message, I do not. It acts like it automatically press 1 for you, then you hear another recording. I just ***g up at this point. How do I get this to stop? I am all ready on the do not call list.HELP??? Any suggestions....
