It could be a type of cyber attack. I would suggest that no one answer the phone when they see that number. Just keep the log of when they call. I have been seeing a lot of google hits about this number, so to be on the safe side, do not answer!

i received a call from this number too and they left a message. It's the athletic department at the University of Maryland, asking if my youth team wanted to come out to an event.

That number will come up when anybody calls you from the University of Maryland. In order to not give out everybody's personal office phone numbers, that number comes up on the caller id's.So it's not a hoax, spam, etc. Most likely you know this person who calls you.

That number has called me 4 times in the past 2 weeks! It just called me a moment ago. I answered, but the person ***g up. I think it is the OIT dept at UMD.
