I know the professional fund raising business in and out, and have ran several offices myself. The actual charities that the company raise funds determine the percentage breakdown of the money, not the solicitors. The donations DO GO to the charities, and then the charities cut the fundraisers a check for the labor. The company really only profits a small percent after overhead. For example, if United Way wanted professional solicitors to raise money for them, they would tell the company how much is expected for them and how much is for the company. NO CHARITY in the world uses 100% of the money for the cause, unless you personally went to a homeless veteran on the street and gave him/her money. A charity is just a business like anything else...

The man on the line asked for me by name and knew my address. He wanted money to help criminals get what they deserve. What do we pay taxes for? The name of his company was said very quickly and I did not ask him to repeat it. He wanted to send me a letter and have me send a check within a month. I declined. The caller ID said Dytel, Inc. which is a call center in Pelhamm , AL, which does not use the area code of 256.
