In the area code 256, according to public data sources, there is a rich demographic profile with approximately 1,915,000 residents and a mature median age close to 42 years. The demographic is predominantly White, with significant Black or African American representation, contributing to a diverse community across the 26 counties. Economic trends show an improving landscape, as the median income has progressively approached the national average. However, labor force participation has slightly declined, even as the unemployment rate has notably decreased, signaling evolving employment conditions.
Analysis of FCC complaint metrics reveals that area code 256 has experienced diverse communication patterns over the years. Wireless complaints spiked sharply in 2018 and have since seen a downward trend across all methods, including wired and VOIP. Notably, pre-recorded voice call complaints peaked in 2018, while the entire spectrum of complaints, from telemarketing to robocalls, showed a decreasing trend post-2017. This suggests a potential improvement in call-related disturbances over recent years as fewer issues are being reported.

This caller called and had my husband's name and our address and wanted to mail concert tickets that were being sold as a fund raiser the Mobile Safe House. He said he would mail tickets to us and to please send a donation. I asked my husband did he know of a fund raiser for fireman and he said no. Very skeptical

This is not the Police or Fire Department or the "State Police" calling you for donations. It is a professional fundraiser calling on behalf of a police union or****ociation and needs to be saying so. The Paid fundraiser can take as much as 99% of your donation. Then they use that 99% to call you a***n and a***n and a***n for more donations that will do no good for your Police Department or anyone else for that matter. Your best bet is to **** up the phone and if you want to give to the police then call your local police department by getting their number out of the phone book. Plenty of info about scams like this one at http://www.pfcl.org/This caller is using local area codes and sends someone to pick up checks for advertising in a magazine. They claim it is tax deductible when it is not because they are selling advertising. This for profit fundraiser is lying in their pitch and using intimidation tactics by claiming to be police officers and claiming they are local when they are not.

I would love to know who you spoke with. Yeah we have some callers that are ***nd new because we are under new management and staffing. My name is Josh Thurman and I manage this office and If anyone has any questions or complaints, my office number is 256-261-1370. We do put on concerts at the Von ***un to fund very legitimate safety programs like the Mobile Fire Safety House.

They claim they are from the Decatur fire dept trying to collect donations --- scam --- as far as I can tell. They **** up on me most of the time before I can even get to the phone. They call multiple times a week.... aggrivating!

Calls several times a week and ****s up before the answering ma****e picks up. I don't have the money to donate to anybody and wish they would quit calling me. I greatly dislike the fact that they can sidestep the Do Not Call Registry by using cellphones to make these calls and feel it is a violation of my privacy to do so. I wish there was so****ing that could be done to stop these calls. If they would like to ask me for donations, they can mail out requests. This includes every facet of the emergency workforce. I greatly appreciate the firefighters, sherrif's department, police department, and everyone else, but I cannot monetarily support them. I do not appreciate when I talk to someone, and they continue to try to convince me to give them my money even after I have said I would like to but can't. I find this rude and offensive and even though saying all of this here is really of no use, it makes me feel better to do so. Maybe I will find a way to stop these calls. If and when I should be financially able, I would be glad to donate, but for now, I want them to leave me alone!
