I've gotten two calls to the ****phone/landline from these people a few weeks apart. They asked for me specifically (although they*****ounce my surname wrong each time and end up spelling it out). It was an Indian or ****stani (I don't think it was ****ladesh, the accent didn't sound right) man both times, but I could hear a number of other people in the background, it honestly sounded like they were calling from a metro station, given the ambient noise and sound quality. That said, they claim to be from some US department that has to do with finance. The first time I kept them on the line a while before going on a mini tirade about how I'm not an idiot and know the government doesn't have a bunch of spare cash lying around to give college students from middle class families. The second time I ***g up as soon as they said where they were from. Also, it takes them a few seconds to say anything, I must have said*****o three or four times before they responded. I also wouldn't doubt that they are responsible for the three or so answering ma****e messages a week that are just a bunch of ambient noise.

Yes I did receive a call from a telemarketer with an India accent, stating I was selected to receive a government grant for $9,000.00. He gave me a phone number and a confirmation number to confirm the information he gave me. Giving into curiosity, I called the number, and was asked how I wanted to receive my grant by my bank account, visa, mastercard, or cash. To give no personal info I choose cash. Then I was informed a $260.00 verification fee was required. I would be reimbursed on the receipt of the $9,000.00 grant, making the grand total received $9,260.00. "To obtain the information on verification a $260.00 is required. Please call back when verification fee is available." I am****uming this to be a scam. It would be interesting to see if someone took it a step further, that is if they have the money to gamble with.

I said I could use the money and the woman who sounded like she was from India/****stan ***g up on me. So much a scam!! Family no information was given out but she knew my name

I had received a call from these idiots ("The US Department of Currency") a couple days ago & just chit-chatted with the Indian guy for 21 minutes. When I asked (nicely) to be put on their DNC list, the guy s****ed cussing at me & told me he would "call me back every day!" June 15 (today) I got another call from the same number (a different Indian guy), so I decided to burn up as much time as I could while giving him absolutely no information whatsoever. It seems they're not allowed to **** up until the customer does, because I was able to spend 31 minutes on the phone with the guy this time. A***n, I was cussed out profusely when I asked to be put on the DNC. I guess he was hoping I'd **** up. I kept asking him how much he got paid an hour and he finally responded "many Lakhs!" (which refers to units of currency used in India & ****stan), though he said he was calling from Washington DC. When asked to speak to a supervisor, he claimed to be one. He asked why was I laughing, and I replied "Because you're doing such a terrible job at this!"

Same thing as the rest of the comments--do not answer this call. By doing so, they get into your phone data--I was told by a hacker that it is a sophisticated hacker type of technology. The latest in getting your personal information.
