Called the number back and got a "We're looking for a Mr [name not mine]" and when I advised that they were dialing the wrong number, I got an apology and some garbled comment that I believe was to the effect they'd remove my number from their list.

I see Google lists this debt collector for this number:Retail Recovery Service of N.J. Inc 190 Moore Street Suite 201. Hackensack, NJ 07601 tel: 1-800-969-6112

They called me, but asked for my neighbor. I think they're trying to 'ruin the reputation' of my neighbor by calling his neighbors so we find out he's being sought by debt collectors. Pretty harassing for the innocent neighbors who receive these calls, and I don't see how they think this is going to get a debtor to pay them any faster. I think they try to make debtors' lives even more stressful than they probably already are, considering they already aren't making their payments.
