This is the Chase Fraud Department

I called the number on the back of my card. Chase confirms that they did NOT send the text and they don't recognize the phone number. It's a Phishing scam.

Absolute scam!!!! Is not chase fraud prevention even though they claim to be that!!! Do not give them any information whatsoever !!!!!

This 800 number IS a SCAM! I received a text at 1:45 am stating that someone used my card at a supermarket for $44.45. It said that someone would call me between 7am- 10pm or I could call 800-355-5265. I actually did make this transaction 3 days before this so called fraud alert. Chase would never wait 3 days to alert you and I have actually gotten CALLS from Chase before about possible fraud. They have never sent a text message.

I don't even have a Chase account and received a call/message from this number. Clearly this is a Spammer/phishing scam. Do not provide any info to them. Go to Chase's website and get the Fraud Department's number from that page, then call it and report the incident through the number listed.

It definitely IS Chase Fraud. I recently moved to another state & they have contacted me on several occasions regarding my purchases. They never asked me for any personal info.

I called Chase they asked me to send them the text and emails and to not respond to them. The info they had and was trying to use was a card that did not belong to me. So it can't be Chase, also there was no fraudulent activity on the account. People please beware, these people r trying to get what you have worked hard for.

This is Chase Fraud Prevention, I called the number on my card and verified that it was Chase calling about a transaction to my account that was fraud, thankfully they denied the charge. Thank Chase for wat****g out us!

I just got off with CHASE, nothing wrong with my account. This person is committing FRAUD. Call CHASE from the number on the back of your card NOT the number -5265 gives you to call back...

I got a text first,followed by a call.indeed, was from Chase, someone tried using my card 3times!

I got a call from that number and a voicemail to contact them about possible fraud activity on my card.  I don't answer 800 calls since they're usually telemarketers or phishers.  At the bank, my business account rep contacted the Fraud Dept and they were, indeed, concerned about recent activity.  I verified that they were valid charges.  They did say, too, that they'd tried to contact me by voice but I never answered (true).  However, even though this number turns out to be valid, I still will call my known bank phone number to resolve any issues rather than one supplied by a voicemail.Apparently many people don't know that federal law limits a credit card holder to $0 liability for unauthorized use, and a ****mum of $50 total if the transactions are not disputed within 60 days.  While debit cards have no such protection (when using a PIN), Visa and Mastercard do provide $0 liability for unauthorized use when used as a credit card (signature).

I did received an e-mail asking to contact this number.  I called Chase and verified is a legitimate number from Chase and that there was, indeed, an attempt to charge my card.

Called my cell phone with message to call them back. Funny thing is, I don't have a Chase account.

Since Chase is always thinking someone is using our card, I didn't think anything about it when I received an email.  Afterwards, I s****ed thinking about it and Googled it.  Now, I'm worried.  What can be done to prevent someone from using the information?

You better pull your debit card out and look at the number because it is NOT the same.  I just got off the phone with the bank and they are turning it into the fraud department.  Common sense should tell you NOT to provide any information, afterall they are calling you and have all you info at the bank IF THEY ARE LEGIT.

It is a legitimate Chase Bank's contact number. You can verify it by calling a customer service telephone number located at the back side of your debit or credit card.

This is a fraudulent call. Do not give them your information. I visited my ***nch to check for a hold after this call came the first time and then received another call from the same number 2 hours after confirming there was no hold on my card for su****ious activity. I called the customer service number and a***n confirmed no hold for suspected fraud yet a***n.

This is in fact a legitimate call.  I have had to have my check/credit card closed twice because of fraudulent charges.  I am glad they have a system to check for possible fraud.  The last time the hit me for more than $700.00.  I called the number, did not verify the charges and then was forwarded to a fraud specialist.  They opened an investigation, sent me the forms via secure email, I filled them out and sent them back.  Within two days I had my $700.00 back in my account.  Kuddos to Chase Bank for their diligent work.  But if you are ever in doubt about a phone number call the number on the back of your card, or from their website and they will either verify the call came from them or not.

I got automated call from this number this morning, telling me it was from Chase and that there may have been fraudulent activity on my card, leaving me a phone # (the same one that the call was from) and a reference #.  I too thought the whole thing was rather fishy.  So, I decided to just call Chase directly using the customer service number listed on the back of my debit card rather than the # the automated message gave me.  When I called the regular customer service #, they said there was a flag due to some recent activity and that they needed to verify the transactions and were transferring me to fraud prevention.  That person then listed like my 5 most recent transactions and asked me to verify they were mine.  So, it does appear that the original automated call this morning did, in fact, originate from Chase, although I don't know which department.  (I asked the person I was talking to about the number and that I'd looked it up on this site and other had listed it as a possibly fraudulent call phishing for info.  She said she didn't know and couldn't really answer anything about that.)

I received a call from the same number, and spoke with someone about the suspected fraud, and indeed there was fraud.  The lady said she worked for Chase, she had notice of transactions that I had made and some that  I did not make.  She closed my debit card account and said I will receive a new card.  I called the Chase number that I had in my phone book to verify the last call, and they stated that my debit card had been closed out, but they was not familuar with the 1800-355-5265, but gave me a number that was 1 digit off.  So the above number had to have been an actual number from Chase.  I thought it was weird that I was asked so many question too, and I felt ****** for providing the information, but it checked out to be a call from Chase.

Don't listen to people on these sites who say a number IS legitimate. They might be the scammers for all you know. Look up the number on your bank's actual site (always make sure yourbankname.com is the LAST thing that appears before the FIRST slash), or call the number on the back of your card.

I received the same call from he same number.  When it mentioned my bank.  I didn't call the number back.  But I did call my bank directly to see what was going on.I was informed, by a live representative, there was an attempt to charge my account with an overseas charge.  At that point it was restricted.

I keep getting calls from this number as well, claiming there was possible fraudulent activity on my card.  It was very possible that they would think that with some of the purchases I have made, larger amounts than normal, so I answered and I got an automated system, and it said to verify my account, they needed to know the model year of car I purchased in a certain time window.  THAT's when I knew it was a phishing incident.  They didn't ask for my account number at that point, and I ***g up on them.  I called Chase a while later, they said there were no flags or warnings on my account, and I asked her if she could tell if the number was one of their numbers, she ran it and it was not in their system.  If in doubt, go into your local ***nch, or call the number on the back of your card.

I got this call today 2-8-2010 6:10 pm.  This number has been calling me for 2 days no messages until today and it says call them back 800-355-5265 to verify info but when i call it back.. it keeps saying this phone line is busy and i have used my debit card mulitple times everyday so far no problems and i check my account at least 10 times a day.  so I am glad i saw this post.  I wont try to call them a***n.  JC

got a call from this number claiming to be chase, sounded fishy asking too much information. called chase and they said this isnt their number. watch out, and jsut dont give any info.

Received call  claiming fraudulant activty and I need to call this number.  WHen the computer voice directly asked for my debit card number I ***g up and called my ***nch.  They said my account was fine and that is was most likely someone fishing for info.  Chase sends out letters and emails.
