I know this sounds like a scam or fake Amex call center whenever you call this # back. However, if you call the customer service # on the back of your credit card you will get the same kind of request; whenever I reach the automated portion for Amex, everytime at the beginning of my call the system will ask me to enter my Amex credit card #. FYI, hope this helps!

These numbers call my elderly parents cell phone every day, all from different numbers. When you call the numbers back, an automated message comes on saying "Thank You For Calling American Express, please enter your 15 digit card number."****Please note that NO bank will ever ask you to enter your FULL card number or bank acct numbers.***I have contacted American Express on Twitter about this. They are looking into it.
