I've had both men and women just call me at work very bad phone connection said it was of a personal matter. They sound like they are from India. I just ***g up on her.

Say they are a Debt collector but refuse to give you there address or location. They want credit card # or check # to settle. This is a scam

A man with a foreign accent called our house at 10:09PM telling my husband that I owed $166.36 from some supposed debt from December 1998 (before I ever met my husband). Would not tell my husband what company he was calling from. Then, he asked my husband if he was going to pay it. My husband told him***** no he wasn't paying a **** thing. I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission about this!

This guy call my number I could not understand a word he said I ask him to spell the words he was saying to me. He was saying I was the person he knew I was the person I told him no I was not the person but if he was going to be calling and saying I was someone I was not that he needed to learn how to speak ENGLISH are get the***** out of America and quit calling my number.

My new strategy after they call is to keep calling them back and ****ing up. The next time they call, I am thinking of ****ing a whistle into the phone-Maybe that will stop them.

A man with a foriegn accent called yes****ay morning around 8:15 and a***n this morning (a sunday morning) at 8.15 asking for my ex husbands (over 20yrs divorced) dead ***her? Seriously?!! Told him first day that person has not nor ever lived at this number and to take the number off their call list. This morning I reminded them of our conversation yes****ay... what time it was on a sunday morning and told them I was contacting the AG that this person does not live here nor has ever lived at this address or number. I was very stern and got very **** with him the second time. Hope that they get the picture. What debt can a dead man have after he's been dead for over 25 years and his widow has died.

This # has shown up on Caller ID at our vacation home. Several times I answered and someone would **** up. Once a woman asked for a name that sounded familiar. The name turned out to be my husband's ex wife from nearly 20 years ago.I told the caller that no one by that name resided here. We've only had this house for 9 years so this location shouldn't tie in with the ex. They have continued calling.This morning the phone rang and I answered only to have some guy mutter so****ing and **** up. It's New Year's Day!!! We have no past due debts. These calls are fruitless for the caller, as we have no clue where the ex maybe hiding. I'll have to try call blocker or so****ing. This is annoying.

Have been contacted several times by a Male foreigner with a false claim that I had a 'delinquent' credit card bill and tried to make arrangement for payment.

On the phone with them now. They have looked up my number and name and cannot find it in their system, yet have been calling the number daily. The person was VERY hard to understand but nice enough to check the number with the supervisor . He claims they have listed this as a wrong number on their end and I "should not" be getting calls.Justin, why not leave a message people can comprehend? Why leave half a message? This Company is calling all hours after 8:30pm before 7:00am. I have asked them not to call my number because they have been told the person they are trying to reach dose not live here. Most reports are that this number is owned by Allied Interstate, which is NOT accredited by the BBB (in fact they give it an "F" rating!). Is this info accurate, or are you thinking these complaints are about another firm?Regardless, this number is****ociated with ****-up calls, repeated wrong numbers to the point of harassment, and false claims of debts for non-existent credit cards. These are not necessarily signs of a "scam", perhaps just incredible incompetence. But the scary thing is that there have also been reports on other boards of people with Third World accents calling from this number and asking for SSNs and checking account details. If your senile grandma gets a call like that, then your inheritance will be on the next wire transfer to Uganda!

They called my business today. It was an automated recording repeating "this is Allied Interstate calling for a collections blah blah blah"Didn't even say what supposed "debt" they are calling for... scam!!!!

This number recently called me, I have no outstanding debt, they have been harrasing me for sometime looking for someone with a similar name. I have contacted my states consumer protection and filed a complaint with them. I suggest you do the same. A simple google search for "consumer protection" along with your state for example "illinois" will easily get you to your states consumer protection complaint center. There you can fill out a complaint on the company harrasing you. Some collections agency are not licesnced to collect in some states there for they will receive a fine and maybe more. I suggest also contacting your local better business beareau as well.Best of luck

Just got a call for someone I've never heard of. Had this number for about 11 years.

Sid are you out of your mind. Its registered with the BBB. Its is as I said in the past a reputed company. Who in thwe world likes collection agencies. I mean would you like like if somebody calls you asking for a 11 year old debt???? The credit card companies as per the laws can only work on their accounts for 7 years max, post that the bills go to a collection agency for collections. You need to get everything straightned out before commenting on anything being fraud. Fraud is being commited by people who use the money on credit cards and dont have decency to return it.

Sear****g through this and other boards, the common threads are: 1) this "debt collector" has almost exclusively been calling people with clean credit who don't have any unpaid debts, and 2) the person calling usually has a foreign accent. This is almost certainly a phishing scam from overseas, trying to get you to reveal personal info such as SSNs, bank account numbers, etc., so that they can supposedly absolve you of some debt that you don't owe anyway. Any calls of this nature should be reported to law enforcement.

I called back this telephone number and the person who answered was a man with an Indian accent and he was calling about a person that apparently owned this phone number before I got it and owes a lot of money. I had this telephone number for seven years and trillions of companies have called looking for this person. My phone number is in the credit bureau files belonging to that person and there is no way I can have it removed unless the previous owner request them to do so. I explained the situation to the person I talked to and he was very polite and he said he will list it as a wrong number.

They said they were from a collection agency.  I asked for a supervisor and after sometime another English as a second language person came on the phone. I asked for his name and he told me he was calling from a Columbus Ohio and his name is Mukefash Singh.  I told him I would call him back and would not give him any information.  He wanted to confirm my information. I called the credit card company that they were calling about was told they do there own collections and do not use outside companies.They said to call the better business bureau at 804-648-0016.This is a fraudulent company, so make the call to the better business bureau.

These people have called 3 times asking for my dad.  I told them he doesn't live here and that they could get his number from the directory...I'm not about to give them his number (he has two - one is for friends and family and the other is the listed one).  A guy with an Indian accent was on the other end of the phone....quit sending jobs outside the US and keep them here (there are plenty of people out of work here who would gladly take that Indian's job).

I am on do not call registry. I work night shift and they keep calling during the day. They will not speak and just **** on the line.

I work in a medical clinic that just opened in May.  I get a lot of calls from a lot of different companies and most of them just **** up.  This one was very different.  I answered the phone in the usual company way, "Good morning, thank you for calling ____, my name is ____, how can I help you?"  And the male on the other end was very demanding and rude.  He said, "I want to speak with"(sounded like Checkov and I couldn't even understand the last name because his accent was too thick and he spoke too fast) There are only four people who work here and whatever the name was, it wasn't similar to anyone here.  So I said, "There's ***ody who works here with that name." and he said, "Ok, this call is being recorded." and then ***g up!  I googled it an everyone says it's Allied Insurance.  Not a clue but w***ver it was, he was very rude and unprofessional.

The number belongs to Allied Interstate, one of the worst collection agencies in the world! They've been calling for someone who had the number before we did, and we've had it for 17 years! They've been told that the person they're looking for isn't here, but it doesn't matter. They just called this evening at 8:55pm EDT. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. Idiots......

I spent 15 minutes on the phone with two people from this company.  They refused to send me information on this debt that they say that I owe.  The "manager" told me that I could not speak to anyone in the United States and he also told me that I could not speak to his supervisor, because his supervisor was busy.  He became very angry with me when I caught him in several different stories that contradicted with what he told me earlier in the conversation.  He told me that he would only mail me do***entation if I first gave him my checking account information.  He finally yelled at me and ***g up the phone, becuase I continued to demand that I speak to his superior. They do not identify themselves and will not give their name if asked for it.

according to them they are trying to collect a debt of my husbands exwife and it was apparently a card she held before they got together. the phone they are calling must have been given to them by her as it is my number and has been my number before i got with him and i dont want her calling and i dont want her giving out my number as it is in my name only. i want it to stop

Claims that I have an unpaid debt from 1997. When I phoned this number back, the man answers "hello." Debt is supposedly with a company that I have since had a relationship with. Received absolutely no paperwork about this and even though it is past the seven year period, threatens to post this unpaid debt on my credit report and will continue to call.

After repeated discussions of informing them they had the wrong person, they have now c****ed the name of the person they were looking for. This person called and asked for someone how has not lived at this number for 11 years, s****ed yelling and would not understand this person did not live here.  Called back three times each time yelling and screaming threats.  We just turned them in to the FTC and the next time they call we will call the police.  First of all you can not understand them because they are not speaking English and the lie to you when you ask their name.

I got a message from 601-982-4083, that a debt collection agency "Allied" was trying to seek payment and to call 1-800-214-8742.  I called the number to inquire about the debt.  Ahead of time I was determined to not give them any other information than what they had which was my phone number.  When I called the person that answered asked how he could help.  I told them I got a message to call this number.  It took 10 seconds for him to look up "my account"  he told me they were looking for "rhaviderpal *&*(^%"  I told him I had never heard that name before.  He told me thank you very much, we will remove your number, and you should not be contacted a***n.  And yes, the message on my answering ma****e and the person I talked to at 1-800-214-8742 had heavy non-american accents, possibly Indian or the middle east.

The we had a call from (973) 349 3349 saying they are going to make our life***** and they have our phone number and social security number. Three more calls followed. I called this number back to find a name. Answered by a Justin. It is a cell phone number from Morristown New Jersey.

I received a call on my cell from this number.  I could not understand what the man was saying.  I actually have not used the phone they called on since I moved, well over a year ago.  It is very difficult to understand the message.  I played it 4 times and still could not understand it.  As a former victim of iden***y theft, I do not use credit, except for my mortgage and automobile loans.  I have no debt.  This is very frustrating.
